I used to be able to sing like a D when I was a soprano :o I did the solo in Allegri's miserere (the one thats always on like movies and stuff) a few times for our cathedral, which had a C in it. But a fat lot of use that does me know considering I haven't sung at all since high school.

The situation was a bit different. Two people were standing behind me having a conversation in Italian, my friend was sitting next to me and asked me a question in dutch and while I answered his question, told the two people behind me my view on what they were discussing I was typing in English on IM :)

I didn't even realise I was doing that until my friend pointed it out to me.

On other moments I'd just be staring at the ceiling and you wouldn't be able to manage to make me follow one person though :(

I do what you described with my mum though, but it isn't to be deliberatly obscure, it's because a certain word or phrase would be easier to say in another language and you (temporarily) switch completely to that other language.
