Alright, I'm a newb so be patient. Back in about 1987 I was given a cassette-dubbed-from-record-album copy of a track called "The New Style" performed by a group calling themselves "The Fly Boys". It was VERY raunchy, and not too politically correct either, and as a teen it was freakin' awesome. So a few years later (the late 1990's) I began a quest, using the internet, to find a copy of this record. I searched for hours at a time, and for months, only to find virtually nothing about this recording. What I did find included two distinctly different stories:
1. It was a recording by a few guys (producers from what I've read) that actually worked with the BB's, and was released in a VERY limited run. As a result of its vulgar nature the BB's opted to distance themselves from it in a hurry.
2. It is a very well crafted 'Bootleg' released in a limited run by some heretofore un-named individuals riding the wave of newfound success the BB's were enjoying. (I'll be honest here, I don't know the BB's timeline all that well, but this story doesn't sit well with me.)
Then, last month I do another exhaustive search and finally find a copy in the UK at a Record shop, so I snatched it up. Now I actually have a copy of it, but STILL have no idea of its origin. I must add that it sounds A HELL OF A LOT like the Beasties, although I don't believe it IS them. However, this being said, whomever these guy are, the certainly had access to the master tapes from "Liscense to Ill" because the music is too perfect and edited/mixed somewhat different than the BB's. I have added a link below to a photo album where you can view pictures of the record-- and see that it looks like a master forgery if it is indeed a bootleg. Any help in solving this mystery would be a huge help. Thanks for your patience.
