I Went Through 6 Years of School Without Being Able To See The Blackboard.

I had totally forgotten about this but I recently saw some kid feeling awkward with his glasses and I remembered how I hated wearing them in school. In fact, I don't think many people even knew I wore glasses. ARGHH!!!! they were so friggen hideously ugly in a left over from the 80s way and my parents refused to get me ones that wanted, probably because they were more expensive. I just did not see the black board. The worst was math class and being called on during class - I DREADED that. I had to memorize what they said was on the board or write it down. I think this is the main reason why I didn't do well in Math & Science.

The more I thought about this, the more I got pissed about it. I was being a dumb kid and letting 'peer pressure' to be cool make me make myself miss out from the complete 'learning experience'. It kind of annoys me that no one figured me out as a kid and no one saw that I wasn't using my glasses and that was the reason I was always being told that I wasn't working up to my potential, blah blah. So i know that other people must've had similar experiences. Like I'm not furiously pissed off because I know I was probably below the radar about it.

So is it dumb to think that if I'd just had the stupid 'normal' glasses I wanted I might have turned out differently? To think that not wearing the glasses had a big ole domino effect or some far reaching consequences?

Me too.. technically. I got them in the second grade but didn't wear them till the 8th Grade. I'd wear them at home, like to watch TV, but not at school.

I used to cheat on science tests like crazy because of this. I'd write these extensive crip sheets for science exams but ended up not using them because I'd remember from writing it all out so carefully. But there were couple of times that I'd leave someone's the science text book in the bathroom garbage can under the bag and take a bathroom break during the middle of the test.

You can achieve a similar result by getting a pair of glasses yourself, greasing your hallway and diving down it head first.

i have glasses too (and have had them for a long time) but i don't wear them because they're cheap ugly ones that my mother bought me when i was like, 10, and i never got new ones. i have a stigmatism in my left eye and can't see shit with it.

My best advice to you is WEAR them when you need them. Your eyesight gets worse when you don't correct it. I'm almost blind without contacts or glasses.

A quick google search told me it's $299 per eye. Of course, that's just a special so it won't last. And I'm sure it's not the same everywhere. But I think at the most it's $1000 per eye.

btw i wear plastics from i was 8 they ( the other kids) never made fum off me i miss them when i don't wear them ( not because i don't see anything just because it's alway's there....evern when i wear contacts....)
