azureus = bittorrent program
mininova.org = site
torrentspy.com
torrentsearch.com
torrentreactor.net
there's a heap of smaller torrent sites too (trackers), a lot of them are focused on a particular area. like my favourite myspleen.net which is cartoons and stuff, don't be afraid to sign up with myspleen either, never got any spam from them, they're just a couple of dudes who run a torrent tracker. i'm always skeptical about signing up for torrent sites tho, but if it's the only place you can find what you're after, just do it, maybe using a hotmail account or something. Usually u can get it unregistered if you look hard enough, it's more the rare stuff that you'll need to register for.
ps. IRC, I dunno about. I think it's the place to go for rare stuff, but i think usually people will want to trade. I dunno, never tried it, never needed to.

And Azureus is the king. I use up my 12 gigs limit every month in about 15 days thanks to that site and that program.

Yeah I always go over my limit too. I dunno what they've shaped my speed down to this month, but it's farking slow :(
yeah, azureus, that's the one. i'll download that once i get this computer completely sorted out. and that pirates bay? i can't read foreign stuff!
but yeah.. i'll try whatever is user-friendly and won't give me spam. cheers blokes.
It's easy to change the language on piratebay.

i've noticed a lot of torret sites are flooded with ton's of ads, and a lot of them are being closed off after a while
oh, and stay away from ABC (another bittorrent client) because its terribly slow

Make sure you use the BitComet client.
tracky

having never tried it i can't really bash it (BitComet) but azureus is pretty damn good and i've never once felt the need to change.
Having said that, I've got a torrent going at the moment with following clients connected:
1x ABC user
2x Azureus users
2x BitComet
2x BitTornado
6x Mainline

Pirate bay only has one banner up the top. Plus the system of commenting on torrents mean that if a torrent has a virus in it then it will be commented on. Thus you are generally protected from viruses alot more than other sites. Also, alot of their downloads are very quick, especially albums.

Thats the beauty of azureus, just download the discography and if its not zipped, you can tell it not to download certain albums/songs. To do this, right click on the torrent in azureus, click on show details, go to files then select the songs you dont wanna download and right click-> set priority->do not download. Piss easy :)

Is it unlimited broadband? If so, just set max upload speed at unlimited..because its not like uploads eat up your download limit if you dont have one ;)

having capped high speed is infuriating
i just make a list of shit i want to download and then sit under my cap until a few days before the end of my billing period.
and then i go nuts and whore as much as possible.
for some reason i've been able to go way over my limit doing it that way.

Mines uncapped but if you go over a limit (i got 10gig i think) they slow the speed right down (called shaping for the nerds, ie "glaven my ADSL connection has been shaped down to 56k nglaven"). You might wanna keep an eye on that tzar, make sure you don't go getting in trouble with the folks cause their high-speed internet suddenly becomes slow-speed internet and they ring up the ISP and they ISP will be like, well shit you've downloaded 400gigs what do you expect?! Then your parents will be like, WTF? You're banned. Maybe not, just a warning :)
i think my limit is 20gigs.

yeah i got the same deal as rancid...and uploads do eat away at your 12 gig of highspeed which then turns into gay speed shit. and they call it unlimited (n) my mum wanted to get super unlimited which is like 20 fig but i sed its a rip off
well im with TPG:
1.5MB umlimited downloads, 20gig cap = $49.95 a month which is nice. came with free modem.

That's a hell deal, tzar. I need to change, bad. I don't pay for mine at home tho, work does (perk) (y) but they wouldn't know if i'd changed, and they'd just keep paying me the $90/month for it

tracky - yeah i blew my load when i heard about it. it's going good. some random disconnections but not long/hard to reconnect.

My parents can't, I have to pay for it out of my wages. But its worth it in the amount of cds/games it saves me from buying.
And Mcmac, 1.5mb/second is equal to a download rate of like 150 kb/second. I've forgotten the reason for that, but there is one. So that means Tsar is limited at 150 kb/s download, which is very good for adsl and very good if it stays that fast (if too many people are on cable then it slows down alot and adsl would probably then beat cable). However, with the connection we have, if you go on at like 3 in the morning, and download from an Australian Tucows site, you can get like 1000 kb/s steady download, which theoretically is a connection of 10 mb/second

00110010 = a byte (8 of them)

I buy games I wanna play online. It's not worth the hassle of trying to find a CD-key that works. Plus, I actually like supporting the game companies. I might end up working for one some day (if i ever get off my arse)

My video card is a radeon 9550 but it can't even run the sims 2 or gta san andreas properley. It makes no sense, because i can open heaps of programs at the same time, including memory intensive programs like video and audio editing software, and have no problems, and then close everything down and just run the game and it just dies. Even though I have a fair bit above what is required.
