Oh, how I'd like to believe it. The perpetual state of patience we as fans are in is a sure thing. They aren't working on an album.

If there is a new album in the works, they need to get back with the instruments and experiment more with them. Not enough people appreciate them for their hip hop talents as seen with the public response for To The 5 Boroughs. They need to pick up where Check Your Head and Ill Communication left off. The shows were alot better with more instruments being played and not with a brief set. For the amount of time they take to make an album, their new album should blow all of our minds away.

Published in today's Melbourne Herald Sun:

...With commitments to the Beasties fulfilled for now, Schwartz is plugging his latest "scratch music" LP, Bangzilla. But he envisages himself reuniting with the Beasties soon.

"It depends on where everybody's heads are -- I hope it'll be a year, two years, three years at the most, for another record. We'll see."

Aw, nice work..

I'm not sure that they have the luxury of taking all the time they want to produce another album. The hip hop/rap scene is changing quickly these days. The Beastie Boys run the risk of being forgotten or replaced by the new artists who are building the scene now.
they are also getting old. and may, as old people do, kick over soon.

I think The Beastieboys is a very old today , They married and have children.

I saw The Beasties Interview from German Tv 1998 McA say . In 1996 they work a new album but time going a littele bit crazy, saw they stand a long time to 1998. In 1998 Mike D say they will back in 2002 with a new Album but the time going very crazy of the Beastieboys .

U can search in yahoo.com Mario caldato Interwie 2002.

He say Ill coomunication take 6 months to make .Hello Nasty 9 Month . From june 1997 to april 1998.

Today if Beastieies will make a Album, they will take al long time .and the tour .

I think The beasties will back in 2007 to work a album to get out 2008

What a shame.

Too old in their 40's to be rappers?

Please.

Never too old to rap as long as you keep it real and straight from the heart.

Beasties have plenty left and their still tops as far as I'm concerned.

Who's better?

What's with this too-old-to-rap bullshit? Rap's only been around for a moment. MTV should not think for you but make you think. :(

Bullshit. That was a great hip hop album and it went platinum. Stop trying to tell them what to do with their music. They are hip hop first. If you wanta rock band first find someone else who's still recycling their work from CYH and IC.

WTF are you talking about? It makes no sense. The Beastie Boys should do whatever they want, not what corporate America wants to promote as the next thing. Note radio/MTV hip hop has gone into a wackness exile. They should be above all that crap.

I agree. I'd rather talk about the Beasties at a hip hop board than here, people have things twisted. If you still bring quality product, age doesn't matter.

I wish they would do their new album (whenever it comes out) in surround form because with five speakers instead of two there are a lot more things they can do with the music, especially their special brand of it. I know I mention surround music a lot on the Other Music forum but for a lot of people it really does make a BIG difference compared to stereo. Listen to the dvd surround version of the Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots (http://www.musictap.net/Reviews/FlamingLipsYoshimiDVDA.html) if you don't believe me (people that own this disc & have surround systems in their cars warn that some songs can cause you to think the car is going in a different direction than what your eyes say it is). If you're into Peter Gabriel, you ought to check out his dvd video collection called "Play" (http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=42969). All 23 songs were remixed into surround form and it is supposed to be a trip to listen to, though some fans complained the remixes are too different sounding from the originals, not the surround part but the choices of actual instrumentation used. I'm done with my thread crap now. :)

Speaking of K-Tel:

Maybe the Beasties could do a......different........version of a previous album, sort of like this popular(!!) one from the 80s: :D Hooked On Classics (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000063T50/qid=1125377993/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/002-9672223-9049626?v=glance&s=music)

So awesomely tacky, but strangely addictive. :o

I think they may be getting back to basics with their next disk - saw them in Osaka in Jan. and they did a large bit off of Ill Communication and Hello Nasty - very fresh! The hole gig was tight, big time - they shoulda had a way bigger opening act but that aside, well worth the money! They didn't do much of the new disk but they did all the classic high energy stuff. - flawless! (y)

Can I just point out that Check Your Head and Ill Communication, to me at least, aren't rock records. It's still hip hop, they're just doing some different type shit with hip hop, as i believe Mr Diamond put it.

I never thought they strayed to much from hiphop.I know they have some other type shit on their discs but their basic style has allways been rap with a taste of whatever.BTW whatever they come out with next will most definatly be dope.It allways is!
