View Full Version : I HATE WISKEY
Humiliation

Well being home alone i raided the liquor cabinet and decided to try some irish wiskey. I had the equivalent of roundabout a standard drink and drank it. Within 5 minutes i was throwing up because it tasted so shit.
Also is it dangerous for me to drink milk now? I need to get the taste out of my mouth and milk is all we got
Calimero jr.

Ok for the milk. Could also help stopping/preventing stomach acidity.
Good whisky should be tasted slowly and in small quantity at a time. Of course that if you drink a 2 dl glass in 5 mins you won't feel alright ;)

Yeah I'm not a big wiskey fan either....that's why I'd never make it in the old west. Every time those dude walk in the bar they're like "Wiskey..." and just down a shot, then talk whoever then another shot and so on and so on....yuck

I've only ever done shots once in my life, and I ralphed, so I never did it again. Tequilla with the lemon and salt thing, it was. I think I did a few too many. I'm beer or bourban & coke man now, when I do drink.

It probably would've been a good idea to have the milk before the whiskey, that lines your stomach and stops the alchohol being absorbed so quick

In Australia drinking ability is just about as important as picking up ability. And seeing as you would seem to have neither drinking ability, nor picking up ability, you're pretty much fucked ;)
Scotch is great straight, you have to get used to it though. Bourbon is really only good for mixing, unless you get some bakers beam or something, but then you may aswell just get some chivas regal 12 year old or a single malt 8 year old scotch. Anyway its all an acquired taste and I am only just acquiring it myself.
I only do shots of tequila and vodka. Doing shots of scotch is a waste because it can actually have a very good taste (once acquired), and doing shots is really only gonna get you wasted.
Scotch is great straight.
You're damn skippy. Talisker, Balvenie, and Laphroaig. Respek. Some prefer it with a drop of water or an ice cube, but I say give it to me neat.
Slow and steady sipping is the way to go.

I'm guessing no one's ever told you before that whiskey and bourbon are actually the same thing, just from different places.

God, I love Bourbon. Maker's Mark is good. Southern Comfort is good. It just depends on how it's made, that determines if it is a Bourbon whiskey, correct? Although it started in Bourbon County, Kentucky, any whiskey made with 51% corn or something like that, is bourbon. Most Bourbons are made in Kentucky. So not all whiskey is bourbon whiskey.
For example, Jack Daniels is technically not Bourbon.
Southern Comfort, vomit, and a taco bell bathroom have totally ruined most bourbons for me.

At some point I have vomited up every kind of drink I've ever had, if you classify type as beer or the kinds of liquor. But I still go back. Give it time and it will soon be good again.

Its been 12 years and I still feel a little ill when I smell it. But I've never had that problem with any other liquors.
Maybe since it was the first time I ralphed from drinking has something to do with it...

For what it's worth: cheap liquor is always best in mixed drinks. If all you've got is Old kentucky, put it in some cola, for pete's sake.
I haven't had Black Bush, but I did try some Fighting Cock Bourbon. Where do they come up with these names??

I think whiskey is an aquired taste. I love burbons and ryes. Manhattans use to be my drink of choice when ever i went out because I could get a nice buzz off just one.
however, I went through a difficult break up once (ok well there have been a few) and was drinking recklessly so before I knew it I had drank half a bottle of Old Overholt Rye, and suddenly I was puking all over my bedroom floor. luckily a friend was at my house with me and took care of me, cause I completely lost all ability to function. the hangover lasted a day and a half.
since then my whiskey consumption has dwindled a bit. a lot actually.
still love a quality manhattan though. (y)

Anyone who can tolerate the taste of whiskey - can acquire a taste for some fine malt liquor . At least with beer , you can keep count of how many you've had - while drinking whiskey can get out of control eventually. And if your head starts to spin - you're fucked ! If at a party and you need to throw up and can't make it outside or to a bathroom quick - just let it rip on somebody near you who deserves it most ! (y)

Yeah and the first broad who flirts with you wanting you to buy her a drink has a husband there who is too busy shooting pool to notice at first. I wised up with how to handle that scenario a long time ago , " You wan't me to buy you a drink ? Why don't YOU buy ME a fucking drink instead ? Its true, basic spirits are usually 7 bucks, with or without coke/other soft drinks. So after 10, you are like 50% drunk, and yet you've burnt through 70 bucks  (australian dollars, about 50 US)
And also, I totally agree with you on the southern comfort...it really is just a liquer, much like Wild Turkey Honey Liquer. I find both sickly sweet. Anyway, why would you need a sweeter whiskey than bourbon? Whats the point, you may aswell just buy some kahlua or something.
