Florida Keys

Has anyone here been to the Florida Keys? I'm thinking of going there in January for 2 weeks. What is there to see and do, and what will the weather be like then? I read that it's warmish at that time of year.

Any details would be appreciated, thanks :)

Key West is great. You can visit Hemmingway's house....loads of good places to eat and drink (you can't get a bad conch fritter if you tried (y) )...very laid back and relaxing. It's not very big....Duval Street is where the action is.

The Schooner Warf Bar is great....everyone on the patio brings their pets and just chills

Cool, is there any chance that we will run out of things to do in two weeks?
Also, I'm not sure whether to stay at one hotel and have days out from there, or stay in motels and just travel the keys in order.

i've been to the keys once. i think i was 16. i would go back, except it's a really long drive over bridges and i'm sorta have this thing about driving over obnoxiously long bridges like those.

anyway... hemingway's house is cool. i think i also remember being on some sort of submarine or navy ship of sorts. i remember going past a bar at the zero mile marker because that's where that interstate or state road ends. of course, i couldn't go in being underage and all.

i think you would run out of things to do. so, i'd spend 5 days there, travel up the keys for like 2 days or just 1, then stay in miami for 4 days and in orlando for 3. then fly back home out of orlando.

you can't count on the weather in january. sometimes it's cold (at least to me as a floridian) and sometimes it's not too bad. you can't really plan for it.

i went about 2 years ago. i'll never forget it. i had a great time. left my CD case in the hotel and lost about 12 great albums though :(

if you want to get wasted and catch an STD, go to Key West. it's kinda skanky there. it's big and there are some interesting places and things - i really wanted to go on the ghost tour - but pretty much every bar is the same.

i really liked Key Largo. i went on a snorkeling tour in the coral reefs off there and it was absolutely beautiful. the tropical fishies were awesome. take some ginger capsules or candy before you go, though...i got sick and barfed off the back of the boat :( all the other little keys are really beautiful.

don't overdo it on the key lime pie. you can only have it so many ways...dipped in chocolate, on a stick...before you never want to see another piece of it ever again.

you'll have a great time, definitely. :)
