Today was my first day of highschool and my stomach was hurting from being nervous but I listened to Check Your Head and it really calmed me down and my stomach stopped hurting and everything. (y) Just listening to it made me relaxed and my whole day (well it was only 3 hours) but it was good. It's almost like therapy or something because all of the songs on there make me feel good, like Lighten Up is you know, telling you to lighten up so I did. :p Listening to any Beastie Boys album really you know, it's great music. There's many reasons why they're my favorite band, but one of the reasons is because they ain't sending off any bad messages or vibes so it makes me feel better while listening to it. I don't even think they're trying to do that for people, I think they're just making the music because they like to and stuff. Maybe I should just listen to it everyday before I go to school because it takes away stress.

People like me, who wonder if the Beasties could make the best album ever, remember that they did it in 92.

I don't think it would hurt, cuz my 2 year old brother, well he was 1 at the time, but he like banged his head on the coffee table and had to get stitches and he didn't even cry!

I'm planning on listening to an assortment of Beastie Boys songs on the way to school every day. I think I'm gonna start it off with Mark on the Bus.

That'd be cool if there was a mark on the bus alarm, my dad had his cell phone as an alarm clock and it played No Sleep Til Brooklyn, then when I got check your head I'm like "hey dad listen to this..." then it played "good mornin" and my dad's like, ooh I gotta have that as an alarm or sumthin. :D

And to put the time-frame in perspective. It had been 3 years since their commercially disappointing album PB was released. Nirvana and grunge were exploding and then.....CYH drops. Musical Masterpiece!!! They toured the US twice playing small clubs with such acts as Fu-Schnickens, Cypress Hill, Rollins Band. :D

That's funny because I can record like voices on my cell phone and to turn them into ringtones, so I recorded "Mark On The Bus" and made it into my cell phone alarm clock tune :). I also got my dad yelling "answer! It's me" several times and made it to his ringtone so every time he calls me - That's what I'll hear.
I always wish I would have lived in the US during that era of 92 cause it always seems to me as one hell of a GOOD TIME! (Ow, yeah, and over the age of 4.. way over the age of 4...)
Check Your Head - My favorite album! (Y) (Along with Paul's Boutique)

It's funny Chicka, because when I started having to go to court all the time for an old job I had, I used to get so nervous I felt sick.
I started listening to CYH on the way to court every morning.
It became a ritual and I started adding other songs from other Beastie Boys albums.
So Whatcha Want still works for me when I have to do something at work that I'm nervous about.
I also recommend Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun, by the way. :)

yeah for my first day of high school i would have been listening to pauls boutique cause it came out the same year i started. i dont remember too well but i doubt i listened to anything that early in the morning. hell i probably didn't even show up :D
so you obviously discovered them recently. thats really cool. Was TT5B your only new album you got by them? i guess so because 7 years ago when hello nasty came out you must have been like 7 years old.
after licenced to ill i got each album the day they came out and you are having an overload! i think alot of people here grew up listening to them but you are going and digging up all the old stuff for the first time. like someone my age discovering zepplin or the sex pistols. i don't really know what i'm saying so i'll stop now. good night

This is sort of ironic. You listening to check your head first day of high school...(ur probably around 15 or 16)..and today was the start of my 6th year in college and i listened to check your head as well
I wish they could have gotten the hendrik people to ok the original version of jimmy james for the cd. The original is so much better than the album version

A similar thing happened to me last year in my first year of uni, but for me it was a because of a big assignment that was due in a couple of hours and all my scans had stuffed up, so i had to start it again. I'd never had a panic attack or anything before, but I just calmly reached into my bag and pulled out Check your Head, and after a few tracks felt quite confident about getting it in and I got back to work. (For the record I got 89%)
