Yeah so, about a month ago I was approached by some people on the street who asked if I wanted to be part of this panel group that watches movies that are soon to be released and answers questionnaires and participates in focus groups and whatnot. So I said yeah sure why not - free movies, right?

Last night was the first one. I went to see Walk the Line, (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/walktheline.html) a biopic about Johnny Cash that's due out in November or something.

It was rather good. Not perfect, probably not quite Oscar material, but almost. Very good performances from Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon - neither of whom I was a particularly big fan, just felt rather neutral about them really, but I was pretty impressed with both of them in this. The music is very well done, and the guy who plays Jerry Lee Lewis is a scene-stealer (probably not surprising, that). Could be paced a bit better, and there were some scenes in the middle I felt were a little long or superfluous. And there's the odd line of dialogue that comes off as a bit cheezy.

But if you like Johnny and/or any of that early rock and roll Sun Records stuff, it's well worth checking out.

You heard it here first, kids

I like Johnny. His epitaph which I forgot the name of right name was a good song and video.
