DONNELLY, Idaho (AP) - President George W. Bush said Tuesday that anti-war protesters such as Cindy Sheehan, who want U.S. troops brought home immediately, are "advocating a policy that would weaken the United States."

In remarks to reporters outside an exclusive resort where he is vacationing, Bush gave no indication that he would change his mind and meet with Sheehan when he returns to his Texas ranch Wednesday evening.

Sheehan, who lost a son in Iraq and has emerged as a harsh critic of the war there, has been maintaining a vigil outside Bush's ranch that has attracted other anti-war protesters.

Bush said that two high-ranking member of his staff have already met with her.

I don't compare Iraq to Vietnam. But this sounds like Vietnam.

Now, we're supposedly fighting for the Iraqis to have a constitution, but our president isn't familiar with the reasons for our own first amendment.

No, Bush is saying that the policy of bring the troops home now would weaken the U.S. I don't seem him saying that the anti-war protestors weaken the U.S.

LOL.

Yeah you're probably right echewta, although the possibility of what I first iterated remains. Soft language is key to any politician's rhetoric.

Great, now I have to go and have a dumbass show on Fox News? I'll do it if I don't have the flagwaving banner across the screen.

How would withdrawing from a country we rebuilt be hurting US?

Oh yeah, that's right. I forgot about all the new terrorists we created while over there, and right about now they're probably real mad at us.

I wonder is Sheehan is still camped out in Texas?

Didn't 3,000 people die on 9/11? Where was her bleeding heart then?

Probably the exact same place with us. Do you really think she'd have a voice on 9/11 by coming out and protesting terrorism? Hello, EVERYONE was doing it, it couldn't have been a story then. "Lady feels sympathy for 3,000 dead in NYC." Yeah, why wasn't that headlines?

I remember thinking on 9/11 "Hey, Diana. This is going to be the one time where America is united. Remember this day, and how huge of a tradgedy this is, remember the feeling you have today - sadness. True and complete sadness and the inhumane acts that happened today. Because after today, the media and politicians are going to make you desensitized to everything that happened today by trying to milk this for everything it's worth, and the words '9-11' will be nothing more than a cliche and a catch phrase."

And I was right. It's so sad how just the simple words of "9/11" out of Bush's mouth can piss me off. I want to hear 9/11 and think of and remember my friend's father in the pentagon, and my boyfriend's cousin's pain of losing her best friends in the towers, I don't want to think "Wow, this is some corny bullshit that Bush is trying to pedal," and flip the channel. But that's what it's turned into, and it makes me sad.

Bush has used the atrocity to his own benefit so much, you wonder how well he'd have done without it.

At the gym in the morning, there are a bunch of us who wait for
the doors to open. There are regulars who get there every day
at 5:20 and stand around talking for 10 minutes. There are some
oldies who come regularly but only a couple of times a week.
Normally, the oldies talk about everyday things, like how the bus was late.

Today, one of the younger regulars talked about how GW has taken off
so much time in his reign that it totals nearly a full year. He said something
like, "He's basically taken off 1 of his 5 years in term." And one of the
oldies said, "I wish he would have taken off 5 of those years."

Maybe she should be camped out at Bin Laden's resort?

GWB has NO CONTACT with dissenting voices, all public appearances are structured and tightly scrutinized for the slightest disruption. Photo-Ops are foremost in his mind.

He knows very little of firsthand disagreement.

Re-watch both Inaugurations to get a feel of our Country. He avoids tough opposition and his ability to shine on the nation is wearing thin.
