but what i want to know, is why do all the youngins i know love tequila so much?

i mean, its a nice shooter and all, but its amazing how many people i know who would love to knock back a few shots with me and take a nice bite into that lemon.

i think all i really drank before i turned 21 was beer and occasionally a cheap bottle of rum or something...

I assume its pernod absinthe. That contains an extract of wormwood that does not contain thujone. It does not cause hallucinations. In fact no absinthe available in Australia causes hallucinations. There is a tight restriction on thujone levels. The highest commercially available thujone level in an absinthe, in australia, is of Teichenne, which also has a 70% alcohol content level.

Almost all absinthes available today do not cause hallucinations. In fact, the amount of absinthe you would have to induce to get hallucination in the highest thujone containing absinthe in the world would more than likely make you pass out before you hallucinated :)

Of course we all tried some strong shit soon, but generally it was crap stuff like Malibu which makes you throw up pretty quick. Never been too much into strong stuff, except a good Gin-tonic from time to time or an "Aperol-Orange" (y)

Rancid is correct about absinth...you'd pass out before having any serious side-effect drinking it. Anyway it's true that getting drunk on it feels somewaht different than other alcohols, that's why we like it, isn't it ?? :D
