Does anyone else dig this album? I picked it up a few days ago, and I can't turn it off. At first listen, I thought I wasted my money, but it grew on me, and became oddly hypnotizing. It seems to be the "black sheep" of Beck's catalogue, but it's simply amazing....

personally, I think "Mutations" is the Beck Black Sheep.

"Sea Change" is gorgeous.

"Paper Tiger" is my fav.

Screw this pretentious new prick; listen to Tear for Fears' 1989 classic "The Seeds of Love" instead.

yep.

When I first saw this album I wondered about what the mostly-pink color scheme was supposed to mean but after owning it for several months now for some reason it fits. And reading the lyrics printed in the grayish silver booklet contributes (for me anyway) to the feel of the music.

This is another reason vinyl can be a more all around fun experience than a CD: the artwork can be so much more elaborate, and easy to see without your eyes watering!

Every time a thread about Sea Change comes up, I have to say this:
I totally bought that entire album through iTunes with pepsi lids.

It's a crowning achievement of mine from the past 6 months.

I absolutely love that album. I don't care if it's macabre. It's got
a perfect mood to it. Someone from here characterized it perfectly
when he said that the album reminds him of that feeling you get
when you're moving out of a house and it's empty and you turn
around to take one last look at it before closing the front door.

It was in FunkyHiFi who said it in this post (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=853648&postcount=6).

Sea Change is the rare kind of album that, when I try to think of a favorite or specific track, I can't. The whole album is so fluid, and flows together, sort of like one giant song.....with many facets.

Beck was able to paint a picture through music. I could actually see the desert when he would sing. Just amazing.

Oh yeah, and about the Pink coloring on the cd/booklet/case. Thats pretty funky. It really fits with the music.

I moved 13 times before I was fourteen years old so I'm kinda familiar with certain feelings (though saying goodbye to the friend I just got to know felt much worse; thank God for sci-fi books and the Revell model airplane company!! :) ).

The new music is causing you to misread statements. Cease your impudence and pick up some early Depeche Mode albums.
