I can't wait!!! King Kong was the first movie that I ever went to the theater to see. I remember having to stand in the seat to see over the lady's head in front of me. Then the first time they showed King Kong's face I shouted, "Mom! He's got a pig nose!"

Holy smokes -- King Kong screens tomorrow, AND it's may afternoon off, AND it's only 10 blocks from my home AND I have a gift card for that theater.

I wonder if I should go see it.

I'm not very excited, given the nature of other large-gorilla movies that have come out in the last 40 years, like Mighty Joe Young and that shit-sandwich remake of King Kong in the 1970s. I'm willing to give Peter Jackson the benefit of the doubt though, he did after all do the LOTR movies.

LOTR notwithstanding, he still might turn out to be a decent director.

We'll see.

We already know he's a great director, he did Bad Taste.

Maybe it's because I think remakes suck incredible amounts of wang, for example Punisher, King Kong, Psycho, etc. that I have low expectations for this film. I do have a lot of faith in Peter Jackson, but I haven't seen anything else by him yet... I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

Let's just assume it's not as good as the 1930s version.

I mean, it was Hitler's favorite movie...
