The set/water/fire stuff was pretty cool looking, I'll admit that. Otherwise, ZZZZZZ

Jamie Foxx looked like he was on something made me laugh with his "yea nigga!!" yell at the end of Gold Digger, but enough bashin' the VMAz (cuz everyone already knows they mostly suck) Ludacris had a good showing as well as Kanye's performance, he did real good. G-Units was dumb but props to 50 on having Yayo do his thing, good business move. Anyone have the unedited clip of him calling out people? yep...
the grammy's are just as bad....

virtually all award shows are just excersices in industry/celebrity self masturbation....

the only award shows i actually have respect for are the Oscars, the SAG's, a few other film award entities (sundance, cannes, etc...)

and somewhat to the emmy's....

fuck, anytime an award goes to someone who ISN'T the most popular.

record/boxoffice sales don't equal talent.

I ran a long power cord out to the front yard, plugged in my amp then bass and microphone and gave the neighbors my own 3 hour concert to give them something else to enjoy besides the VMAs. I sang such classis as "Puttin On The Ritz" by Taco and pretty much the entire Miami Sound Machine catalog. I earned $2.33 and some buttons when the night was through.

yes indeedy. All award shows in the history of award shows from the Oscars to the Grammys, have been and always will be about publicity and advertising dollars. They have absolutely nothing to do with recognizing talent.

I'm not sure if the academy awards were the first awards show, but I do know they were created because, with the invention of television and what not, theater audiences were starting to dwindle and so they said: hey, lets create an "awards show" where we can show off our glamours stars and generate more interest in the movies. it had nothing to do with great actors or great movies.

Whenever I hear the word "MTV", the word decadence alway pops up in my head.

And you'll be glad to know that to some people, supposedly a lot of you guys are mooks.

To find out what that is, go here:

The Merchants Of Cool (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/cool/view/)

......and watch the part labeled "the MTV machine".

I didn't know Viacom (http://viacom.com/) owned so many media outlets: MTV, Comedy Central (part of MTV), Infinity Broadcasting (radio), Paramount Pictures, Spike TV, Nickelodian, Viacom Outdoor (billboards), Simon & Schuster (book publishing), the CBS television network, and more. So if they want to sell something to you............

This is another reason we're very lucky to have PBS around to show us things like this. Unfortunately, lately many people in our government have been trying to chip away at PBS' funding.

the white people sure looked whiter than ever this year, my god

how about when Coldplay performed? how skinny, pale and silly did that whole contrast suddenly look? its like "Hi, we´ll be the white part of the show tonite. Were clumsy and tall and skinny and we wear pastel colored clothing and our eyes are an exotic blue".

the same thing sort of happened when Green day got another award at the end, except the black eyeliner and billy joes´s "do what you fuckin want" slickened them up a bit, looking not so ridiculous next to 50 cent and the like.

not criticizing, just an observation.

He's a good-looking guy. I don't like all the weird rubbery stuff he's wearing on the cover of a recent Rolling Stone.

I like his voice more when uses a lower register. The way he sings at the beginning of Fix You sounds too high & squeaky. (I know it's supposed to be a reflection of vulnerability and a gentle attitude given the lyrics--it still grates on my ears. He sounds so much better in the last 1/4 of the song.)

I hope he goes for a hot lava fountain next year. Not like a hot chocolate lava fountain dessert thing that you find on a lot of middle of the road restaurants where guys will take girls on dates and think they did a good job picking the restaurant and that the lady is impressed where as she probably went to the same place the previous weekend with her family and her father made a fool of himself by wearing the lobster bib while he was eating his soup.
