Has anyone ever tried using one of these (http://www.casaevideo.com.br/images/produtos/jpg2/esporte/7414803.jpg)? I mean, like really, in a regular basis?

I need really bad sculpturing my stomach. And this is my last hope! :D

Unless your born with killer abs or do something that demands hours of physical activity every day, its hard to get cut. I believe is much more of a diet thing that to use products like this. Just do situps and save the money.

Just an opinion and not based on any scientific fact. But be aware that I worked in the informercial industry that sold products like this ;)

you don't need that to do sit-ups

If you pay attention to your technique and don't daydream :) crunches work just fine. I have a pretty flat stomach from doing just crunches, certain pilates/yoga movies, and cardio. Mostly crunches.

It's not a Janet Jackson tummy, but I strive not to have that look. (I don't like that look on a woman.)

Well, if I lose more weight I will get really really skinny on my arms. I don't have a proportional body. I just want to lose my stomach now. I'm eating healthy food already. I just wanna get rid of that huge belly. It's disgusting. It looks like a pregnant belly and I'm not exaggerating. I have it since I was a little skinny kid. Back then I could blame the solitaries but I can't come up with that nasty excuse anymore. Seriously. It's starting to get on my nerves. This jelly belly is killing me!

Yeah, I don't need that to do sit-ups, but doesn't it make it easier?

I misread that as butt guster and wondered what it was and why I haven't seen it in the gym yet.

You won't get rid of any kind of fat without a good diet & regular cardio. That tool you posted and crunches will build nice muscle mass underneath whatever fat you have. You have to combine floorwork (crunches/weights) with cardio to get rid of the fat and put on muscle.

I think that tool just helps you not to cheat. So you can save yourself some money by doing the sit-ups/crunches and just not cheating. :)

Oh, I know what you mean.:D All I want is to get rid of that jelly belly. I want a flat stomach I don't want a "tank stomach" as we call here.

Ok, I'll try the crunches. My whole life I wasn't so persintant on that, ya know. I did it like esporadicly (sp) and it didn't help me since at that time I also needed to lose lots of weight.

Aaahhh, that's what I thought in the first place. A tool!

I seriously didn't get the cardio thing. Is it a gym slang for something related to the heart?:p

If you're in basic good health, they recommend about 90 minutes a *day* to lose fat. If you supplement that with weight training, you'll add muscle and increase your metabolism and the fat will come off that much faster. But <90 minutes, they say, is what people who want to maintain their weight should do. It sounds like a lot but once you start it, you'll be fine. Keep your heartrate at 80-85% during that time--maybe work up to it over several weeks. You'll be hooked and you'll notice how much better you'll feel. Good luck, MSF!

Hehe, yeah I know. I wouldn't do it. I don't want real tough muscles. I just want a bit of a sculptured body, you know?!:)

Oh, sorry. I say cardio because I don't like the term aerobics. Yeah, cardio--anything that'll get your heartrate up and let you keep it there for the time you need to in order to lose fat. You can get really crafty, imaginative with how you get your cardio. :D

Yeah, I should have emphasized this. You've got to work up to this over time. Otherwise, you might get injured. I see people with new memberships coming into the gym and going at it for an hour at a time on different machines and they sustain that for a few weeks before I notice that they're out and then back with a brace on or sporting a limp. Be smart about it. Maybe start out by walking more, go more briskly, and then see what you feel like doing after a few weeks of that. The idea is to work up to that 90-minute goal.

I am so sorry. :o :o Just before I read your post, I thought to myself that I should go and take a shower now and then go out because otherwise, I'll monopolize this whole thread into some sort of infomercial.

Someone else answer for awhile. I'm going now. :o (Good luck, MSF! I love that you're motivated.)

Oh, forgot to ask. Ok, I want to lose a bit of weight since I gained a bit in the last couple of months, but it's not much at all. But I know that when I lost that weight earlier this year I still had a big fat tummy (a bit less fatter, but still too much fat for my weight at that time), so whenever I get to that point I'm afraid my tummy will get hard, but it's gonna still be large, you know what I mean?

You know that guy who is on that horrible machine and he advertises for Geiko? He has long blonde hair, huge thighs, and a mullet? I get the sense that you-all must think I look like the female version of that. I don't. At least I don't think I do. :)

I go now.

I wish I knew how to link a pic. - but I don't. :( But - you gotta remember those things from the 80's ! It has a long spring in the middle with a handle on top, with stirup - like things for your feet. They must've sold millions of those things.

there is this thing at the gym that I lay on that looks like this (http://www.quantumfitness.com/high_impact/img/QF290A.jpg).

I personally like things that keep my neck straight and such. Although I know that paying attention to what I am doing will help that a lot, I tend to push myself pretty hard and I don't want to start pulling on my neck when trying to do more, if that makes sense.

That machine works lovely for me.

Wow, I've missed this post?? :o Very useful! Answered my questions! Thanks a lot, Enree and everyone! That's a big help!!! :) I'm gonna start my own program, but I don't think I can start it at 90 minutes per day in the first 2 weeks because I was sedentary, you know?! But that was awesome!
