I've been off work for the last month as I hurt my back, and tonight is my first shift back.

Why on earth did I choose a night shift for my first day back?

No I'm in Intel, I'm based in an office and deal with intelligence for all ports and airports. 11 hours stuck at a desk, I can't wait

the reason you choose a night shift is because you feel you owe work something after being off ill. I know I did after I hurt my back and went back to work. It has that effect on you.

Good luck at work.

Yeah, we have overall control of all the radios that officers use all over the UK, so we hear some funny stuff.

It's not really that, my doctor's note ended just before my night shifts started! But it's probably better to go back tonight as nights are a lot quieter than days. It'll give me a chance to read the 300 or so e-mails that I'll have received while I was away.
