Because said disasters happen under Bush's watch, and they know they're wrong, so they only thing to do is attack the other side or defend your side to death.

Politics to conservatives is not discourse and debate; it is a war that needs to be fought; it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong, it's who has the biggest balls, guns, ammunition, and will. It's ground inside of them to go on the offensive whenever something bad happens that could be attributed to their lord and savior, presidente boosh.
