Or the top 5 or something. In my opinion:
1 In The Fade
2 No One Knows
3 You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar But I Feel Like A Millionaire
4 If Only
5 Another Love Song/Burn The Witch
Best Album:
Sometimes I think it's Songs For The Deaf, sometimes I think it's R. Today it's R.

The Return Of Nick? 2 September, 2005
JOSH HOMME and NICK OLIVERI could be back working together as early as this year.
The longtime Queens Of The Stone Age and Kyuss collaborators have been estranged since Homme sacked Oliveri in mysterious circumstances last year.
But now, Queens Of The Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen has told Playlouder that fans hoping for a reunion may not have to wait long.
“Nick’s going to make another Mondo Generator record and we’ll probably all end up playing on it," said Leeuwen. “It’s that understood. Him and Josh are brothers, you know.”
Leeuwen also explained how he himself feared that the Queens Of The Stone Age were over when Oliveri left. “I thought ‘what am I gonna do now?” he explained. “There were a lot of questions. Looking at it now I wouldn’t say that I’m glad he’s gone because he’s a great artist but I would say that it’s okay that we’ve changed and it’s gonna get even better. Things change and you’ve gotta roll with what’s going on."
The band release their album ‘Lullabies To Paralyze’ on March 21, and Leeuwen was quick to explode one particular myth surrounding album track ‘Everybody Knows You’re Insane’. “A lot of people think it’s a reference to Nick, and I can understand why they say that but it’s absolutely not,” he explained.
“We know a lot of people and some of their behaviour is insane and it doesn’t have to be violent or whatever. It could be talking about a large number of people. It could be the whole general public of the United States!”

I loved Songs for the Deaf because it was so hard. I didn't buy their newest album, all the singles suck (can't stand little sister) IMO. "You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar But I Feel Like A Millionaire" is my favourite song.
Hate it when bands go soft, even if it just experimental...just pisses people off.

QUOTSA didn't "go soft" on Lullabies. Have you ever listened to Rated R? A good portion of the songs on that album are pretty mellow. Not all of their stuff pre-Lullabies is hard like Songs for the Deaf.

Songs For The Deaf is the best, heads, shoulders, knees and toes down, down.
My top 5 songs:
1.A Song For The Dead
2.Monsters In The Parasol
3.Leg Of Lamb
4.No One Knows
5.Burn The Witch
You'll notice how 'Burn The Witch' is at no.5, that's because I'm going off 'Lullabies To Paralyze'.....already. :/
As for the whole Nick/Josh thing, I read somewhere [noting what was said in a radio interview] that Josh had sacked Nick because he had heard he "beat up his girlfriend", then a month later in the same magazine Nick made a statement: "I love my girls! I've had good relationships with them all! He's just making shit up, he's just trying to distract people from the fact that I'm not in the band and the new record was lame!"
- - - or something along those splendidly gay lines.

i really hope olivieri doesn't come back... he was kicked out for a very good reason and i really don't want to associate an asshole like that with one of my favourite bands...
hard to say what my favourite song/album is.... i prefer lullabies over songs for the deaf though..
someone's in the wolf is definitely up there as one of my favourite songs by them..

There's a 12" single of Go With The Flow on clear vinyl with an UNKLE remix of No One Knows on the b-side. I didn't pick it up when I had the chance because I already had the UNKLE track on a different single and didn't feel like buying something simply for the novelty of owning it in an unique format. Obviously, now I want it.
As far as non-lp tracks go, I think that These Aren't The Droids You're Looking For wins based on awesome song title alone.
Go With The Flow is their best video, if not one of the greatest music videos ever created this century.
In my opinion.

By the way, I read a 2/5 review for the gig you went to on that Monday and the headline:
HOMMECIDE
THE QUEENS ARE DEAD.
LONG LIVE THE QUEENS.
I was pretty interested in the review until I read:
QOTSA used to have balls. A hairy nutsack so huge it dragged along the ground. Tonight you can't help but think it was attatched to their former bass player.
I mean HAH but hrm?
Maybe you should have gone to Reading after all?

well that's just one person's opinion. i imagine that people who write reviews like that are only interested in one aspect of the queens. me and my friends (all blokes with good healthy balls) thought it rocked.
the guy who is standing in for oliveri is a seriously good musician (he has his own band eleven. they're on my myspace page -- add them!) and is lacking in that sid vicious nihilistic attitude that oliveri has. so yeah, different but not bad, in my opinion. i would have liked to have seen mark lanegan there tho.

I don't think it sucks at all, and definitely not on balls. It's not as amazing as the others, but it turned out a lot better than I thought it would.

I just saw Mondo Generator a week ago opening up for The Dwarves. Nick played some a couple old QOTSA tunes. Hanging out with Nick and Blag after the show at the bar was cool.

Well at least 2 out of the first 3 are consistent.
I like how most qotsa fans can acknowledge that no one knows is still a kickass song even though it was way too overplayed.

I'm not very familiar with QOTSA and I'm certainly not their target audience, so I'll be interested to hear what you think. I thought the actual music was okay, but the singer seemed unaware of who the audience was. He was pandering to 13 year old boys even though there weren't any in the NIN audience. I found it a bit embarrassing.
NIN put on a nice show though. Trent said a total of maybe 10 words the whole night. :)

I picked up 'Over the Years and Through the Woods' yesterday. 20 live tracks, 15 live performances on the dvd, plus bonus footage, behind the scenes crap, sketches etc. And it was 14 bucks. Not bad, but I haven't even checked it out yet. It could suck for all I know.
