yeahbased on Mike Myers face, even Chris Rock's look, I'm going to say that wasn't scripted by NBC...

I was watching that earlier and was just as confused as Mike Myers appeared to be. I mean, I got what Kanye was trying to say, but he could have composed his thoughts a little better, I think. He just sounded inarticulate and like he had some kind of speech impediment or something. I don't particularly like the dude, but I guess it was a bold move on his part.

Edit:

Or is it all part of this ongoing quest of his to draw attention to himself through these kinds of controversial statements?

NBC Statement: Kanye West's Hurricane Telethon Appearance
"Tonight's telecast was a live television event wrought with emotion. Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion."

I don't think so. He may have not been very eloquent, but he was the most heart-felt one there. You could really hear the emotion in his voice, how much it truly upset him and how much he cared. I think that means a lot, and didn't make him look "the fool" at all.

i agree.

i think it was hilarious, though. he's not a politician, or reporter, so he's allowed to have outbursts, and shit. if that was a reporter, or mayor, then that would have been a but much.

"George Bush doesn't care about black people," West said. "They're saying black families are looting and white families are just looking for food...they're giving the (Army) permission to shoot us"

During the New York blackouts in the 70's, was it looting when both black people and white people were stealing tv's, foods, clothes and other items because the police couldn't keep control. Yes. And is it looting now that both black people and white people are stealing food to survive? Yes. Both white and black people are looting to stay alive because it's obvious no one is helping them.

Shut the fuck up, Kanye.
