The National Public Radio news anchor was so excited I thought she'd piss on herself: the President of the United States had flown his plane down to 1700 feet to get a better look at the flood damage! And there was a photo of our Commander-in-Chief taken looking out the window. He looked very serious and concerned.
That was yesterday. Today he played golf. No kidding. (http://www.gregpalast.com/)
Greg Palast always has his bullshit detector on. His book, "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" is mandatory reading.

My problem is you're a waste of precious bandwith and natural resources. You think it's perfectly accpetable for our president to golf and for his aides to go shopping while people are wading through waist high water just to protect their homes and more people are laying dead than from the 9/11 attacks. Some of those people are good friends of mine, and I'm sure the people who are affected by this disaster would agree with me too.
You think that he should have gone bowling the day after 9/11 then?

He wanted to carry his shot gun for protection.
he should have just gone golfing instead

If it is true that he played golf, is it such a horrable thing? Is our president never allowed to have some fun?
So what was the big deal with the whole Levinski thing then?
Are you serious sisko? You think it's acceptable for the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF al QAEDA to go golfing during this whole ordeal in New Orleans!? That is by far the worst thing you've ever posted.
Also, what did you buying bullets for your glock have anything to do with this topic? I don't believe you're a cop. What department do you belong to and what's your name so I can ask them if you truly work there.
You're really that blind, huh?
that wouldn't prove anything, it would just prove that he knows the name of a cop who works in a police department

Oh please, like we really need any more proof that this fruitcake is a delusional fantasist.
Well, I get the name and to make sure he is a police officer and get a hold of his home phone and ask if he posts on the BBMB, if the guy says no...then I know we have a fake. Yeah, talk about stalkish.
i don't think they're allowed to give out police officers' home phone numbers...i certainly wouldn't want mine given out if i were one, anyway.

If he's anything like his leader, W, he best be seated while enjoying those pretzels - they seem to have problem standing/walking and doing anything else at the same time.

You really are fuckin numb in the brain. This morning you said it's perfectly fine that our President goes golfing while thousands on thousands are dead, dying, or have nothing left because he deserves a little fun too.
I asked if you'd be just as OK with him bowling the day after 9/11, because he deserves fun too.
So answer the question twat.

It's called the internet, give it a whirl sometime. There's a myriad of photos of Bush on his vacation while at that very moment people were dying.
And again, that's aside from the point of you saying it's perfectly fine for the president to go golf while people are dying because he deserves to have a little fun. Way to fuckin backpedal, just like a right wing nutjob zealot.

I don't know about the whole golf thing, but how do you feel about Secretary of State, Ms. Condi Rice, doing the same thing when people are dying? I heard Spamalot was good. Too bad Eric Idle passionately hates her and her administration.
On Wednesday night, Secretary Rice was booed by some audience members at "Spamalot!," the Monty Python musical at the Shubert, when the lights went up after the performance.
Yesterday, Rice went shopping at Ferragamo on Fifth Ave. According to the Web site www.Gawker.com, the 50-year-old bought "several thousand dollars' worth of shoes" at the pricey leather-goods boutique.
A fellow shopper shouted, "How dare you shop for shoes while thousands are dying and homeless!" - presumably referring to Louisiana and Mississippi.

When are you people going to realize that this administration doesn't give a shit about you. Honestly, Bill Clinton is even turning into a boot-licker. This is all theater for corporate advertising. People drowning-Lexus commercial-More people drowning-Hummer commercial, and so on.
My love and heart goes out to everyone who has sufferred through this terrible time, this whole fiasco can hopefully reap some good, in the form of enlightenment. THEY COULD CARE LESS IF WE SUFFER, they aren't obviously.

Consider this:
Friday, Aug. 26: Gov. Kathleen Blanco declares a state of emergency in Louisiana and requests troop assistance.
Saturday, Aug. 27: Gov. Blanco asks for federal state of emergency. A federal emergency is declared giving federal officials the authority to get involved.
Sunday, Aug. 28: Mayor Ray Nagin orders mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. President Bush warned of Levee failure by National Hurricane Center. National Weather Service predicts area will be "uninhabitable" after Hurricane arrives. First reports of water toppling over the levee appear in local paper.
Monday, Aug. 29: Levee breaches and New Orleans begins to fill with water, Bush travels to Arizona and California to discuss Medicare. FEMA chief finally responds to federal emergency, dispatching employees but giving them two days to arrive on site.
Tuesday, Aug. 30: Mass looting reported, security shortage cited in New Orleans. Pentagon says that local authorities have adequate National Guard units to handle hurricane needs despite governor's earlier request. Bush returns to Crawford for final day of vacation. TV coverage is around-the-clock Hurricane news.
Wednesday, Aug. 31: Tens of thousands trapped in New Orleans including at Convention Center and Superdome in "medieval" conditions. President Bush finally returns to Washington to establish a task force to coordinate federal response. Local authorities run out of food and water supplies.
Thursday, Sept. 1: New Orleans descends into anarchy. New Orleans Mayor issues a "Desperate SOS" to federal government. Bush claims nobody predicted the breach of the levees despite multiple warnings and his earlier briefing.
Friday, Sept. 2: Karl Rove begins Bush administration campaign to blame state and local officials—despite their repeated requests for help. Bush stages a photo-op—diverting Coast Guard helicopters and crew to act as backdrop for cameras. Levee repair work orchestrated for president's visit and White House press corps.
Saturday, Sept. 3: Bush blames state and local officials. Senior administration official (possibly Rove) caught in a lie claiming Gov. Blanco had not declared a state of emergency or asked for help.
Monday, Sept. 5: New Orleans officials begin to collect their dead.
and tell me Bush doesn't deserve his rightful blame....

But consider the offense someone who has 20+ good friends missing and possibly dead in New Orleans right now seeing someone say there's nothing wrong with Bush having some fun while hundreds of thousdands are being displaced.

Friday, Aug. 26: Gov. Kathleen Blanco declares a state of emergency in Louisiana and requests troop assistance.
Saturday, Aug. 27: Gov. Blanco asks for federal state of emergency. A federal emergency is declared giving federal officials the authority to get involved. in this case, meaning FEMA...NOT bush.
Sunday, Aug. 28: Mayor Ray Nagin orders mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. days too late. a failure on his part.
FEMA chief finally responds to federal emergency, dispatching employees but giving them two days to arrive on site. a failure by FEMA, most definately.
Tuesday, Aug. 30: Mass looting reported, security shortage cited in New Orleans. Pentagon says that local authorities have adequate National Guard units to handle hurricane needs despite governor's earlier request. show me this.
Bush returns to Crawford for final day of vacation. TV coverage is around-the-clock Hurricane news. yes, that was bad form.
Wednesday, Aug. 31: Tens of thousands trapped in New Orleans including at Convention Center and Superdome in "medieval" conditions. President Bush finally returns to Washington to establish a task force to coordinate federal response. Local authorities run out of food and water supplies. FEMA's failures were not evident until a day before this point. this was arguably a semi-prompt response by the executive wing. granted, he should have BEEN at the white house already.
Thursday, Sept. 1: New Orleans descends into anarchy. New Orleans Mayor issues a "Desperate SOS" to federal government. Bush claims nobody predicted the breach of the levees despite multiple warnings and his earlier briefing. meaning bush was told months or years ahead of time?
or meaning bush had been told about the levee's breaking 2 days prior? what is the context?
[..]
and tell me Bush doesn't deserve his rightful blame....
Somebody needs to get impeached.
i'd rather see him get impeached for lying about Iraq.
and i'd rather see the local gov't officials of Louisianna and of FEMA get beheaded first.

Okay, so Qdrop, it seems that you're saying FEMA is to blame. I won't dispute that, however, isn't FEMA a federal government agency (under the Department of Homeland Security)?
Going with that, wouldn't they answer to the President? If they are being incompetent, isn't it within the authority of the President to make sure that they're properly doing their job (or hell, at the very least, shouldn't Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff make them responsible). If they're not doing their job, shouldn't disciplinary action be taken (such as replacing FEMA director Michael Brown with someone who can better serve the agency)?
So far, I'm not seeing Bush keeping this agency in check. Ergo, I think it's valid to lay (at least a significant chunk of it) blame on Bush.

It's sure is nice to read your views here in the political section DroppinScience. Common sense is needed.
Why is it so many people rush to defend GWB? It's obvious he is the architect of the current structure that provides help to the US citizens victimized by tragedy. This is the United States of America, how many days does it take to figure out the worst tragedy to hit this nation has devastated hundreds of thousands of citizens?
1? 2? 3? 4? 5? Do we need a 4 day warning before the event? I noticed the clogged freeways leaving? Is it fucking rocket science to put some containers of relief around the superdome? Do we not have the capability to forsee?

If it were me, I would not play golf the day after Katrina.
Okay then, so why did you say this (http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=981833&postcount=2):
If it is true that he played golf, is it such a horrable thing? Is our president never allowed to have some fun?
So is Bush playing golf (or bowling or any other kind of fun activity, it doesn't matter what) a good or bad thing? And if it is bad, then why did you first say it wasn't as shown above?
