as one of the greatest comedians?

seriously, some of this skits he's made up... just absolutely classic. there hasn't been a great comedian for a while and i reckon he's one of the best out there at the moment. i haven't seen alot of his stand-up (only saw 1 dvd) but that one was hilarious.

thoughts?

I've loved Chappelle for quite some time now, and to hear people just quote "I'm Rick James, bitch" doesn't do him the justice he deserves.

I'd love to see him when he gets better.

i've just been watching this for the last week too. He's really funny but then sometimes he bugs the shit out of me with all his black culture stuff or whatever it is he does. I just wish he'd leave that out of it and stick to the comedy.

the funniest was "a day in the life of lil jon"

I like the blind black klan member one. "Cunnilingus Rice? Sounds like a Mexican dish! Maybe we should serve her up, and send her down to Mexico, white power!"

And the one with Wayne Brady. (y)

his show is great but it's also very hit or miss.

like some skits were dogshit and some are classics.

on a side note, though, I've always thought his stand-up was crap.

I'd still like to see him make a triumphant return.

this is true. i watched an episode last night that didn't make me laugh that much. it was the one with the world champ. of dice. but the 'when keeping it real goes wrong' wasn't too bad.

Season 3 isnt coming out, which is horrible. Charly Murphy said they did 8 of the 12 shows planned... so Im betting they will release those on DVD

yeah, he's kind of hit and miss. some of his stuff (the blind KKK member, for example) is really pretty genius, and some of it...isn't. i'm not familiar with his stand-up. he came to our school a while ago (UCONN), i didn't go, but apparently it was mostly a lot of jokes about masturbating.

anyway, i give him a thumb and a half up.

A couple years from now, people will remember when he was on top. He's surtainly funnier than some of the other comics out there.

If Chappelle can keep it together, in every sense of the word, he will be huge.

If not, he's just another fart in the wind of comedy.

Yes, Dave Chappelle is up there. He knows how much I love him too. Plus, he's married to a Filipina lady. So that makes him even cooler in my eyes.

his "killing them softly" stand-up from lincoln theater 2000 i think it was, is definitely funny. for those of you who liked his show but never his stand-up, i doubt you saw that one from 2000 since that's gotta be like one of the funniest stand-up's i've ever seen.

anyway yeah you people better hope to see those season 3 episodes or else the beasties' performance of the new style on a boat in ny with dave may never be seen by anyone.

Ive been loving dave's standup for a loooooong time
gunstoreliquorstoregunstoreliquorstorewtfyoutaking meman

I just watched the most recent standup dvd this weekend "for what its worth" and yes its worth it alone just to be able to say "sugar water and... purple" at random times during the day and have your friends bust out laughing for the next 3 minutes

I think his standup can be, not quite hit and miss, but the buildup to his jokes or his stories can get a little weary
but still, when he' s on he is onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

they have skits for those shows. but they never got to tape the intros with the audience and whatnot. i hear some of them were absolutely hilarious.

it's likely that no one will ever see those.

or the beastie boys musical thing :(

His stand up special at the Fillmore is one of the least funniest things I've ever seen. He can create great characters, but he's shit telling jokes. Sorry to say that too.

He's funny in a child-like way. I wouldn't consider his comedic talent to be genius by any stretch of the imagination, but he IS funny.

The PLAYER HATERS BALL was by far the funniest sketch from his show.

The Photo Flip:

OSAMA BIN LADEN

"Good God Almighty, it's Osama bin Laden."

"Thats' the mutha fucka that pumped my gas on the way over here."

"That's funny cuz I take Yoga classes from him."

ROSIE O'DONNELL

"IT'S BOY GEORGE!!!!!"

"Now there is a man that I wouldn't wanna fight."

"She wears underwear with dickholes in 'em."

I've been trying to remember the name of the standup thing since I started reading this thread.

Thanks!

I was going to say that I'm not that familiar with his show but I loved "Killing me softly". If his other stand up work is up to the same standard then I don't know what the people that don't like his standup work consider good stand up :)

That would be a travesty. Why'd they do that song?

That would be a travesty. Why'd they do that song?guess they thought it would go well. plus artists performing on that show almost never perform their "hits".

I think the New Style is one of the beastie boys best...at least off LTI
