Hi all,

After the success of my Sabotage remix I thought I would try to mix another Beastie track. This time I have no excuse for there not being an accappella ;) I hope you lot like it and as usual any feedback is welcome. Get it here ::

Hi there. The file seems fine. Can you do a right click 'save as'? If not leave the page for a while, as the MP3 is 10 meg in size (Over 7 minutes of Audio). If you still have problems let me know. I'll see what I can do. Oh, and I'm about to check yer m-m-mix out.

Peace

This mix by the way is a TOTAL remix. Only the vocals are used. Everything else was written from scratch, as a result I feel it's my best Beastie remix ever, but I need people to give me some feedback.

I wanted the track to really 'celebrate' NYC. More energy, and passion (for example the energy in Sabotage) . The origional of course is wicked, I just wanted to hear them celebrate in another way, in their roots kind of way. Did I acheive it? hope so!

By the way, there is a compo and £10 is up for grabs for the first person who can tell what I did to the vocals at the end of this track. It is a simple answer and no plugins where used (enough clues I recon!). Payment will be made via Paypal. There is no end date to this contest. Good Luck!!!

Yeahhh baby!!! It rocks! I think it's no song for the typicall hiphop fan. But people who like electronic too will have their pleasure with it.
Hardcore man!

P.S.: What software/hardware do you use?

Hi Spaceman,

Nope, sorry dude. Good guess though. If no one guesses in a week, I'll post another clue, or I might up the prize!

Respect dude. All comments are welcome, good or bad. An honest opinion is worth so much more than sunshine being blown up my ass!!!

This mix was written for dance floor as are most of my remixes (they get played at free parties). Any chance you can elaborate further on your comments as I'm still learning (do we ever stop?) and specifics are of great help. If not, I'll work as well as I can from your comments.

Thanks again muphasta.

Peace Floody

P.S. Does anyone else feel the same about this? I know my stuff is in a different genre to the Beasties but they do lend themselves nicely to the floor!

this would play good at a party. a night club feel to this. work on switching up the beats though

Thanks dude. You're right, maybe I should do something more with the beats and synths, had 1 or 2 comments about them. However, I write music for myself and no-one else, and kind of like the 'constant' about it. Anyway, who knows, a new mix may be done at some point, but after my house move.

I really like it. I usually dont like bboy remixes, cause they are never as good as the original shit, but i love the vocals being repeated often... like, "you make it happen..you make it happen..you make it happen"

8/10

PS: that hi hat and drum beat sounds alot like Live Wire.

This was sweet! I'm not sure if the serious lyrical content works with such an upbeat tune, but if definitely was different. I also liked the chopping up of the vocal track, especially the "Brooklyn" loop.

Nicely done - I gotta find your Sabotage mix now...

I've been a bit busy of late so sorry about the slow reply! Thanks to you all for your feedback. I'm going to have to cruise this board for a while and catch up with the new stuff. Any recommendations for stuff in the last 9 months?
By the way the new location for this remix is a www.theboyflood.com.
