it's ok sometimes. but i never got into it as much as other people.
it's like, the canned laughter goes balistic when kramer walks into jerry's room - yet he doesn't say anything funny. he just....walks in. how's that funny?

It's different, I'll give you that. But funny? Hillary Duff putting out a Greatest Hits with only one album under her belt is funny. this is just a bunch of people whining about everything.

Uh yeah. That's if you neglect to consider M*A*S*H first, man.

Everytime I hear Suicide is Painless I instantly laugh my ass off. It's a great way to start the day.

I read this thread as, "I want to stab my eyes with an unicorn horn when I watch Seinfeld".

Which is cool.

You and Turd should get together and watch 'Seinfeld' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' marathons with ice picks in hand.

Yeah, I'm actually not a fan of the show.

But Bewitched was easily the funniest tv show ever.

<3

Even though for me, Arrestted Development might steal that title.

But in all seriousness, we all know that According to Jim is by far the best sitcom ever made.

oh wait...

See why people like Seinfeld Matt? Look at the other sitcoms.

I really hate Seinfeld also. It's typical american bullshit comedy. I cannot laugh at it. It's as bad as friends - infact worse.

It's even worse than Hollyoaks! I know they are different genre's but share a coloum as really bad shows!

Yeah, I'm glad when it is on over here it's in the middle of the night and not during the day so I miss it. I'm lucky enough to of not seen a clip of this show for well over a year (y)

It's typical american bullshit comedy...

What?! How's this typical? Or do you just typically fail to understand american "bullshit" comedy?

The show could've used a few more "mates" or "innits" though.

like friends and sin city and other things advertised as "Americas greatest ..."

Talk as everything is a question and jokes about the same thing. Inuendo of being gay that drags on for half an hour.

American comedy can be alright. I love american comedy movies - well some of them but their sit-coms just make me ill.

This thread title makes me wanna stab myself in the eyes so i don't have to be witness to it's severe gayness. No offense.

Wow, I wonder who said Sin City was "America's Greatest"? I love the movie but I wouldn't go that far. Oh wait, that's called hype.

I'm sick of our sitcoms too. You can only make fun of fags for so long. Kinda gets boring. Unlike farting.

Talk as everything is a question
I'm going to guess that you don't know a lot of New Yorkers and/or Jews? Because you would know that we do actually talk that way quite often?

TonsOfFun

It's not the accent, it's the so-called-joke that is created by making a statement as a question.

I kinda like the American accent. I know you all talk different town to town but you all sound the same to me :p

It's hard to explain. But there is different culture across the pond to over here so what might be funny to most americans is not funny to SOME British or Europeans. And visa versa.

edit - last bit was a bad example.

Like I wouldn't know this, an American in London?

Seriously though. Panto. I mean, WTF?

Three's Company and The Monkeys were a couple of the best American comedies. Screwball with pratfalls and facial contortions. (y)

I always liked Moonlighting.

Right then I forgot what this thread was about and why I was replying.

Seinfeld. Yeah. One of the few sitcoms I like. Maybe it's too specific in its contexts for wide appeal. It's very New York and Jewish. Dissecting the minutiae of every little thing that happens. Maybe that's why it's good. It's precise and condensed in focus. And everything wraps up to connect in the end like those classic orchestrated comedies of the 30s. It always seems amazing as a viewer to see seemingly unrelated incidents affect each other - in TV or movies. It's a laugh of relief that the world has order and that things happen for a reason and that life isn't a series of random empty gestures.

In the mid '90's, I worked with a woman who had just moved to Brooklyn from Grand Junction, Colorado. We were chatting about how she was settling in at all, and she said something to the effect of "You know, it's so funny, it's like everyone's from Seinfeld! When you don't live here you think the show is funny because you can't imagine people ever talking and being like those people, so you just think it's all wacky and weird. But then you live here and it's a show about everyone on your block!"
