Our boy ad-rock is appearing on uk grime star lady soverign's debut US e.p. this November. This is damn good news people, its about time the boys reconnected with emerging musical movements and this is definately on point.

if this has already been covered, my apologies just delete the thread.

Caught her on IMF a couple months ago and I was like damn this girl is gonna blow up. She's a lot more lyrical than M.I.A. but has similar beats. It's similar to Dizzy and The Streets. The Beasties have been diggin on this scene for awhile. That's good news!!

Most of you guys from the United Kingdom will know about Lady Soverign. She's basically the female Dizzee Rascal. she makes 'Grime' music, bascially a fusion of Hip-Hop, jungle and drum 'n bass. Its good shit, and I was thoroughly surprised to see Ad-Rock helping her out on her e.p. And if it means anything to anyone, Jay-Z is looking to sign her to def jam.

Heh. What a dope.

Lady Soverign has been around for a minute. She was on The Streets 'Fit But You Know It' remix, and has a single 'Cha Ching' on the Run For The Road compilation. As a female Uk Grime artist, shes ok... But, I perfer No Lay much more. This girls flow doesnt do much for me.

This little ditty was on pitchfork. Check it out.

UK grime’s Great White Hype/Hope, Lady Sovereign, will finally release the EP, Vertically Challenged, on Chocolate Industries on November 15. The trash-talkin’ 19-year-old and self-described “white midget” has more buzz than tinnitus right now, thanks to a series of hott British singles, a spot on the genre-defining Run the Road compilation, and heavily traded mp3s burnin’ up the interweb.

But come November, us American folk will be able to rub our grubby little hands all over our very own piece o’ Lady Sov wax. Vertically Challenged will feature five original tracks and three remixes, including one of “A Little Bit of Shhh!” by none other than Beastie Boy Ad Rock. (Funky white people unite!) It will also include a thirty-minute DVD with videos, interviews and behind-the-scenes footage. Tracklist:

01 Random
02 A Little Bit Of Shhh!
03 Ch-Ching
04 Fiddle With The Volume
05 The Battle
06 Random (Menta Remix)
07 A Little Bit Of Shhh! (Ad Rock Remix)
08 Fiddle With The Volume (Ghislain Poirier Remix)

A full-length Lady Sov jawn, with the tentative title of Straight Up Cheeky is expected for Spring 2006… but which lucky label will release it? Well, Universal’s got its tentacles wrapped around her worldwide, but in the U.S.A., the pint-sized princess has been in talks with Def Jam, having been flown out to New York City by the label’s president, Shawn Carter. Yes, that’s right: Jay-Z is trying to sign Lady Sovereign. Apparently, the pair had a meeting in the Def Jam offices, and Usher, Teairra Mari and Antonio “L.A.” Reid were also present. Talk about big pimpin’!

Next Thursday, Sov will rock the mic at NYC’s Webster Hall as part of the CMJ Music marathon, sharing the stage with Diverse, Apsci, Aesop Rock and Blackalicious. Look for Hova and Beyonce in the VIP. A November/December American tour is in the works, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Can't wait to hear this. I've never really been into the newer garage/grime scene, but it will be really interesting to hear Adrock rhyming over this kind of stuff.

It makes me wonder what would come of the B-Boys spending more time around these types of artists.

this is pretty good, i'm glad adrocks keepin' himself busy.

i like how he's remixing a UK track aswell, i agree with Parkey in the sense that someone like M.I.A is to me a lot more enjoyable, but it's nice to see some big artists involving themselves with some shit that isn't exactly mainstream, specially not in the US.

So is he onna be featuring on one of her songs ? Or is he just gonna be rhyming with her on the night ? It'd be good if he does feat on the song, another side project to add to the list (y) And yeah it is good he's keepin himself busy, the more Beastie news, the better.

The difference between Lady Sovereign and Dizzee is that Dizzee is a joker and is safe whereas LS is a dirty pikey bitch.

I listened to this song 'A Little Bit Of Shhh!'

I've seen something of hers on a music program on the telly here. She was alright (like Paddy said, Dizzee Rascal is just crap compared). I can hardly understand what they say tho'. When I was in Milton Keynes I heard some girls talking like that and I was like WTF?

I'm sorry, but i don't understand what all this fuss over Lady Sovereign is. when i first heard random, i thought 'how the fuck did this manage to get on the radio??' i thought it was really really awful. and i still do. she sounds like a little whiney scrubber bitch.

I'm currently in Manchester the scally capital of the North.

On her site it says

In November 2005 she releases an EP in US on Chocolate Industries called "Verically Challenged", this features her previous UK releases plus a version of "Shhh!" she's done with the Beastie Boy's Ad Rock.

I heard 1 minute of this remix, and it was faster than the original, but no Adrock in it...so I don't know...we'll see

Mate, don't tell me about scallies. I grew up in Rochdale.

And now I live within a mile of the most violent estate in Greater London.

So yeah, I've had quite a pikey-filled existence so far. (n)

Even Sale, one of the 'nice ' parts of Manchester has scallies and chavs. One of them was leaning on my car so I politely told him to fuck off and he did with no bother! I've never been so surprised, I thought I was going to have engaged in a bit bit of playful scallie whacking
