Never before have I been more conscious of my age (I'll be 25 next year), and how many expectations I can heap upon myself.

It caused me to drive the wrong way up a street yesterday, and when I snapped out of it, I was freaked.

I figure if I spend 3-4 years at uni, at a cost of only working part-time, the rewards I reap will be worth it. Sort of an investment of time and depleted earning power.

I think it is actually referred to as 'An Intellectual Investment'.

That is, if I get in. If I don't, then hopefully I'll get the direction I need. Or my fiance will leave me, and I'll walk around naked until the cops give me a place to stay.

Australasian youth, if left untended, will float aimlessly around. American youth (from what I see on these boards) are driven, with direction.

I sort of envy that. :(

i've been considering going to uni for the last few weeks now. I'm having trouble with the fact that I found school to be boring because they teach shit too slow, for the masses, so to speak. I don't really want to spend 2 hours learning something that I could learn in 5 minutes. But then some jobs really do require that peice of paper, don't they? Also, was thinking about computer programming, so I looked around at the jobs in SA, and it's all like accounting software, business software, shit like that. I'm thinking it's gonna be pretty fucking boring work. Paid, but boring. Visions of Office Space flashed through my mind. At least where I'm working right now offers me 2 things, stability and *searches for word* it's not excitement, but I'm not always doing the same shit. Oh, variety. Plus I can roach up in the dunny at lunch and no one gives a shit :D (y) oh but yeah I want to stop doing that. or do i? yeah. nah. blah.

if all else fails; join the army.

that's my philosophy.

i saw this on a zippo lighter: "join the army - meet interesting people and kill them" :D

that's similar to something the guy says in Full Metal Jacket..

"I wanted to see exotic Vietnam, the jewel of South East Asia. I wanted to meet interesting and stimulating people of an ancient culture and, kill them."

i'm not gonna argue who came up with it first or anything, I just think it's a cool quote :D (y)

theres no way you can compare school to uni. uni [for me] was such a learning experience, and if you really want to be there you can get so much out of it. and the thing i found great was the fact that the lecturers dont treat you like a kid, whereas many teachers have a superiority complex and treat you like a 5 year old
