Why can't the stores let them work in the bakery or on the checkouts?

Wow, this is kinda true. I've seen it on more than 1 occasion. I think it's due to equal opportunities that the company is supposed to give, but maybe they feel they can't employ these people in particulary customer facing sectors of the store.

I think it's wrong though. I know for a fact that they are more intelligent than most of the silly cunt bosses I have worked for over the years

there's retards at my store. i think companies get some sort of tax break for hireing them. i don't think it's too safe to put retards near stoves or the fry-o-laters. that's why they give them the simple jobs.

there were a couple of down syndrome [or "special needs"] kids who worked at my old store. they werent great with customers, cos the customers used to get angry if their question wasnt answered before they'd finish the sentence. it would confuse the kids, and in a couple of instances customers made them cry. but they were bloody hard workers and really nice people.

Yeah, there was somebody that had down syndrome working at wendys and he made my chicken nuggets, but I didn't trust it. Is that bad?

If he was wearing gloves, I'm sure it's fine.

We once went to a family-run Dunkin' Donuts, and there was a 11-year-old working the register. The lady asked for half a dozen boston creme, and this kid used the little disposable sheets to get them, but on one or two of them, he misjudged and his fat little fingers overreached the protectiveness of the sheets to puncture the juicy filling of the donuts. He put them in the box for her, but after he saw her disgusted face of possibly having to eat donuts with 3 fat finger holes in it, he was like "Um, maybe I should get you a different one."

Um, yeah, you do that. Booger donuts are the worst.

when i worked at an amusement park making sandwiches we had this old guy with this lump on his head the size of a fucking golf ball serving customers, we couldn't find anything else for him to do. he smoked in the bathroom and we're pretty sure he wore a diaper. i know it sounds bad, but fortunately he quit within the first few weeks so we didn't have to awkwardly talk to him for long.

he was a strange guy

Have you ever noticed that most succesful people arent very smart. Being smart can actually be a burden some of the time. I'am sure glad I'm not very smart.

When I was in high school, my first job was McDonald's and at nights when we were closing down and washing things up, this guy with DS would come in with his "helper" and work with us cleaning up the joint. He was a cool guy, I can't remember his name but anyway, that's all I got.
