is like bashing your head up against a retarded wall. I make a point, and they skim over the points, and just pick out a few words and respond to it as they see fit. They don't get the whole picture because they don't read the thread completely, or if they do, they're too dumb to understand the issue.

It's like a room full of gmsisko's over there.

They won't come over to these boards. I remember the reason I stopped going over there in the first place: I turned 18 which means I could join the grown-up part of the board that gives up talking about how cute Adrock is, and moves on to more important stuff like what you ate for breakfast and how in turn that affects your vaginal smell.

What do you mean by "picture"? What kinda picture are we talking here? Like a photograph? A painting? What's the picture of? Is it of Mike D? Oooooh, if it's a pic of Mike D you should post it in Sure Shots. Don't hog, man.

Beasties are what drew me to this site...but there is only so much you can talk about and hardly any witty conversation.

that's why i troll this side and the political/other music.

at least people are talking about something

I went over there to post about Hurricane Katrina, and them helping out. And then I saw someone point something out that was entirely false about the Beastie Boys being racist, so I tried to explain the difference, and no one's understanding the concept that Beastie Boys meant "nigger" in an endearing sense, and not the racist sense and no one can grasp that concept.

Don't get on my last good nerve, peter.

Like I said, just because you can't grasp a new concept doesn't make it wrong.

Soooo sorry. *sniff* :(

QueenAdrock

Yeah, it would be considered okay by most people's standards, because they know he doesn't mean it in the racial "i hate black people sense".

Mcmac

no it wouldnt...no1 would say thats ok...its obviouse that the beasties didnt mean it in a bad way but that word is so touchy that you cant say it from a white person to a black..and its obviouse that if eminem said it he wouldnt be saying it in a bad way...but with out a doubt no1 would think its ok if he said it..maybe just you

Finally! Exactly my point I was making:

"But think nowadays, if Eminem came out on stage and said "What's up my niggas?" Would that be racist? No. Because you know, since a lot of his acquaintances and friends are black, he doesn't mean it in a racial slur sense, he means it in a loving way."

"Granted, I'd rather not see anyone use the terms (white or black) because I feel like it hinders society's growth, but just because they're still used does not make them automatically racist."

I didn't mean it would be "okay" as in it's perfectly fine that he uses words like that. I meant it in the sense that people would know what he meant by it, and not be insulted. Like I said, I'd rather no one use the word because I feel like it stunts social growth, but if he does use it, I do not feel like he's being racist.

and im saying the black people of the crowd WOULD be insulted whether he said it in good meaning or bad. im sure alot more people would agree with me than u on that subject matter

I'm not too sure if black people would be insulted. I'm sure they would be if they didn't understand the context behind it, or didn't understand that he had many black friends that he used the word with. That's exactly what happened to the Beastie Boys. The black crowd was extremely insulted, because they didn't understand that they meant "nigga" as a term of endearment. They believed they meant it in the racist sense, and that's how the misunderstanding arose.

Today, however, people may understand what Eminem or the Beasties (though I doubt Beasties would use the word nowadays) mean when they say "nigga". They're in the rap business, and that's what rappers say. It's definitely in the rap culture, and they may say it as a way of acceptance into their culture, as being one of them. And if people understand that fact, they wouldn't be insulted.

know they didnt tihnk the beasties said it in a racist sence...they arnt stupid so they would have known that they meant it in a friendly manner.but u cant say that shit friendly or not good meaning or bad. and the black people at the eminem concert would deffenitly be insluted even if they knew he said it with his black friends all the time (even though he wouldnt) and even if they knew he meant it in the best way possible...you just cant say it

Mcmac
09-11-2005, 12:12 AM
they would be insulted NO MATTER WHAT

edit: this is like talking to a fucking brick wall

QueenAdrock

Really? How come I have black friends I can call "my niggas" and they're not insulted? I'm pretty sure you can't package all black people into some kind of neat little package. I'm pretty sure that most of them are open-minded, friendly people who don't have a shitfit when they hear the word "nigga" to mean as a friendly term.

And a white rap group saying "nigga" was UNHEARD OF in 1980's. So I really don't think they knew that the Beastie Boys were not racist. I think they were already a little cautious about seeing a WHITE rap band, and to hear these white rappers say "nigga" put them over the edge.

im black ok

your friends think its ok for you to call them a nigga because you know each other on a personal level. if sum1 came up to me and was like "yo watsup nigga" i would punch em in the face. but if one of my friends said it that knew that i would react ok i'd be cool with it. its like i can call my other foreign friends asians and currys coz there ok with that

ok lets just end this...who cares :p

I call all of my friends "bitch" all the time and nobody cares. Same concept, kind of.

No, not really at all. Nevermind, I didn't say that. I never call anyone bitch. That's a lie.
