Pittsburgh is notorious for being looked over when big time headliners decide on rollin' 'round on a tour. But there are some decent shows coming here in the near future that I'm pretty pumped about. They're all @ Mr. Small's Theater, which is my personal favorite venue in town, that happens to be owned by the chick from Rusted Root.

9-13-05

Particle w/ Gabby La la
--particle is one of my favorite bands

10-18-05

Old Crow Medicine Show

11-3-05

The Misfits

11-6-05

G. Love and Special Sauce

11-8-05

Donna the Buffalo

12-16-05

Black Star Orchestra

That place is small and apparently, they treat their guests well (they stay in the old rectory).

I think Pittsburgh misses out on so many good acts because of the high entertainment tax. Before they raised the taxes through the ceiling, we used to get all sorts of terribly interesting small-to-medium-sized acts. Now, it's just big-name arena show types of bands and whatever comes to Mr. Small's or Club Cafe. (The Rex on the South Side brought in some very nice guitar acts last year, but they haven't done anything like that in several months.)

NIN and QOTSA - Not too excited about NIN, but QOTSA live can't be too bad right?

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Yeah, I like em', so what?

The Melvins with Jello Biafra - 'Nuff said.

Le Tigre and everyone else for the Operation Ceasefire thing in DC - If I can get out of a wedding soon enough.

Seeing as I live slap bang in the middle of two cities, there are too many to mention.

Although most of them are shitetacular i.e. 50 cent, a-ha, backstreet boys etc.

Don't go see the Misfits. I heard some of the their live shit with the new lead singer and it was beyond terrible.

Alkaline Trio with My Chemical Romance on 10/3. My b/f knows the lead singer of Trio, but we don't care for My Chemical Romance, so is it bad to leave before the headlining band starts?

Dave Chappelle on 11/18. Tickets just arrived.

Good luck with that. Better take a tarp and poncho and prepare for a Gallagher-like show just in case his head explodes on stage.

Skinny, yeah, Misfits will probably be the show I don't attend. Not too big on them anymore.

Also, a few shows in Columbus, OH

System of a Down/Mars Volta
or Beck

they play on consecutive nights.

I'll probably see beck cuz I'm not down with Soad's scene, already enjoyed Mars Volta/ATDI numerous times, and I've never saw Beck.

when are those shows in columbus? i would love to go see both beck and mars volta.

it is dissapointing the loss of shows recently in the pittsburgh area. club laga and metropol were the best places to go for small shows. they both were VERY easy to get too, and both had to close down because the promoter wasn't making enough money or something stupid like that. now all thats left in the city are those tiny theaters in the south side and crummy rock club who does like 2 shows a month,if that...

i have yet to go to mr smalls because i have no car to drive myself there, but there have been at least a dozen sows i have wanted to go to in the last year. and all my friends fucking suck because they won't ever check out a new band with me even if i say i love them.

everyone must see beck at least once in their lifetime. even if you are not that into him, his stage performance is amazing. i'd advise you pick him any day over stuff you've already seen before.

I think they're like sept. 28 & 29. Must be sold out cuz i can't find any info now. But yeah, man, I'm without a doubt going to G. Love, Old Crow, and Donna the Buffalo. If you wanna roll with me and my friends, it's all good. holla.

Was supposed to see him at that Field Day Music Fest w/ B-boys, Radiohead, blur, Bright Eyes, My morning Jacket, etc. and he either shit his pants or twisted his ankle and didn't play(although the boys played for an extra 45 minutes). It did rain all day, so he might of twisted an ankle, but I think the jury's still out on that one.

Beck is the one act I have always wanted to see but haven't yet, get those tickets fast because his 2 upcoming shows here sold out in under an hour on me. I even set my alarm.

You were one of those judges?! I only thought I loved you before. Now I know it's true. What a feeling!

While I'm working I have this program open called FlashCode and it takes on a new suggestion now.

I was the old one who was blowing her nose.

I tried to find an image of that or the scene with the dog with the bow around his neck and Michael Nouri greeting her with flowers, but all I got was this (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00006C23E.08.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) and this (http://www.stardustfollies.com/NewFiles/flashdance.gif) and this (http://www.bellalopez.com/images/videos/imgladvid-69.jpg). (The latter of which is JLo's remake, I think.)
