Acid Pro 5.0 / z3ta+ / Sample Tank 2 / Battery 2 / Albino 2 all running on my trusty PC are my main weapons of choice. As to where you can get them...............all good shops dude. Where else would you get them from? Any other way is theft if that is what you are hinting at............

I use ACID pro 5, with fruitloops producers, with wavelab, and other random programs.... I got them all at different music stores....

reason 2.5 perhaps soon gona upgrade to r3.
mixer, 2 synths, 1 turntable, midikeyboard
Its important to have good audio card with low latency and acceptable noise level on input so you can afford live recording of the sessions

Yep....low latency is a must. I use the emulator x studio but Acid Pro and EMU drivers do not like each other, so Acid Pro just craps out on you from time to time. Apparently it's EMUs fault for not staying within the ASIO 'rules'. Hope they sort it soon :(

ModPlug Tracker with VST plug ins (free), GoldWave, Audacity(free), Taureg, Hammerhead(free), Creative wave studio are the things I use most.

I don't use the computer for my mixes but I hear that Fl Studio and Acidpro are all the rave.

I've got a demo of the new Ableton Live 5............and it's brilliant. Very reliable (more than my Acid Pro). If I wasn't so stuck in my Acid Pro ways I would seriously consider it.
