my boyfriend and I love tons of the same music, but some of his favorites I cannot stand.
I never really said anything about the few he likes that I dislike, with the exception of one. But I am not sure if I should say anything when he talks about them or keep grinning and listening while thinking in the back of my head "god I hate that guys voice in that band I can't stand it when we listen to them in the car ahhh."

haha yeah. steg and i have very similar taste for the most part, but there are some things we disagree on. i don't mind that he isn't as thrilled about my favorite acts as i am, and he feels the same. there's really not much of his music that i absolutely hate. but there is some of it i don't exactly enjoy I'M SORRY
steger told me the other day he secretly listens to Metallica.
he said Lars Ulrich is his hero.

THAT'S A LIE! YOU TAKE THAT BACK! *strangle*
i remember one of the first days he was out here, we were jogging, and i asked him, "do you like the Doors?" and he sighed and said "i fucking hate the Doors" and i was so, so happy.

Steger listens to Latvian folk-dancing music. He just hasn't worked up the courage to tell you yet.
Sorry, Matt.

There are certain voices I don't like. Counting Crows, there is a song or two I like, but for the most part his voice bugs the shit out of me and my bf says they are one of his favorite bands ever. Same with the Refreshments. I would like them a lot more but the lead singers voice gets on my nerves after a while. He was going on and on about them and creaming himself talking about them and how the lead singer is coming to town for a show.
Meanwhile I am thinking "Oh god please get someone else to go to that with you, bleh."
He also likes Lyle Lovett, a lot.

He thinks Latvian folk-dancing music is Nirvana.
The spiritual existence of course, not the grunge band.

I insulted my boyfriend's favorite rapper, and the guy ended up deleting me on myspace. 'Cause yes, I sent the guy a message and in so many words basically said that he sucked. But the next day he added me back because he saw I was friends with some other rappers and DJs.
"There's such a thing as MIDWEST RAP?"- My best friend from high school, Jennifer, when I told her about this rap artist.

That Mrs. Jones whatever song might be the most annoying shit ever.
One of the biggest things I had to accept with my wife is her affinity for shitty dance music, house, Euro, and such. She hates my Public Enemy, and Eazy E. I could never be with someone who liked country.

Me girly talks shit about some of the music I like. Then a few months later, she admits to it growing on her and I find her listening to it. All I have left is sonic youth and 90% of my "punk" albums and she will be totally converted.

Everytime time I stay out all night, the next day when I stroll home usually around midday my punishment is I'm sequestered to an endless onslaught of broken heart 80's era music. The usual suspects included are the likes of Air Supply, Whitney Houston, Simply Red and the marvel known as repeat. I'd love to smash that damn disc but that is the cross that I must bear to keep me walking the line
I don't stay out all night often.

Refreshments? Is that the same group that did that awful theme song for "Friends"? Oh wait, was that Rembrandts? Gah, I don't know. Refresh my memory. :p
Anyways, my girlfriend and I don't seem to have any musical clashes... yet. We're both huge U2 fans (I think she may actually be into them more than *I* :eek ). The thing is, I seem to know a lot more bands than she does. She either vaguely knows some bands or isn't all that aware of others. No biggie, she seems open-minded anyways. :)
She took a look at my collection (which is HUGE) and she's like: "You have a lot of... huh... EVERYTHING."
Another time she also observed how my tastes are very diverse. "Black Sabbath AND Simon & Garfunkel?"
:D
amazing
that's what i said!

I usually dont listen to the same things as girls I date. It doesnt seem to be much of an issue ever.

^it's a huge issue for me. I have to listen to a few of the same things. I have music playing constantly so if he doesn't like it well, that's a problem because I am not going to stop playing it :p also, music is a HUGE huge deal in my life. So much that it's a factor for me. I mean, if a guy thinks Metallica is the greatest band of all time... that's a guy I am not going to date.
I also love when a guy knows some different music as well that I am unfamiliar with. Helping me discover new (to me), great music is something that has made me fall for guys. :o

The Refreshments? Not sure which song of theirs would be popular to be honest. I would recommend looking them up on amazon or something and taking a listen. To be honest, I know they aren't all that bad, but his voice bugs the crap out of me. Just one of those things.

last girl i had a relationship with had wonderful taste in music (meaning it was extremely similar to mine :-) ) but she just couldnt get into david bowie or roxy music (or understand my fascination with bryan ferry)... and for that matter i can't stand sublime, 311, or my chemical romance. blech.

Don't get me wrong, I don't enjoy listening to shitty music, but there are definitely more important things to consider as far as compatibility with a significant other is concerned.

Yeah im also a huge music fan, some people arent though. For some people its background filler, for others it has meaning. I can respect that even if its not how I feel. Provided Im not overexposed to crap its not a big deal to me. In fact I prefer some differences. Most "hip hop" girls are lame.

So many kinds, where can we start?
we like them dumb and we like them smart.
I like the ones with the pretty eyes,
Well i like all kinds of guys.
Stop. What happened, how about the ones we especially like?
Which ones?
You know the ones with the cars that go..
I hear you..

It was me and the possy with Bunny (D)
We were cruising in the Jag or the Lambourgini,
When low and behold there appeared a mirage,
He was hooking up a car in his daddy's garage.
We stopped short, did a double take,
He was looking so fly, I thought I wasn't awake.
He was obviously hooking up bass, I asume,
But then he turned a little button and the car went boom.
We like the cars, the cars that go boom,
We're Tigra and Bunny and we like the boom.
