First of all, I hope someone else out there knows what I'm talking about. I know some of y'all have to have heard of charity organizations asking people to save their soda tabs and sending them to 'em or whatever, right?
What can they possibly do with them? I can't even begin to fathom what they could even think of doing with all that crap. Is it because of the rising price of aluminum or something? Even then... what the hell do they need all this aluminum stuff for?
SOMEONE HAS TO HAVE THE ANSWERS!
actually the tabs are titanium and they melt them to make wheelchairs.
seriously - this dude told us a couple of years ago at school.

There's no way that soda tabs are made out of titanium, dude. I'm not falling for that one.

i knew a group that collectd them for a kid in there school so he could get money for his med's

that's what we got told. i didn't believe it at first but then some of the places i visit occasionally were collecting them; the owners said the same thing.

i would think that titanium would be a little expensive for that...
i mean, they are thinning the thickness of the can's to save a few cents here...

It's quite simple my friend. Basically it's a 3 phase plan that goes as such...
Phase one: Collect soda (or pop) can tabs
Phase three: Profit!

I've only seen tab collections in high school. And it's really weird, because they only wanted the tabs and not the cans. If it was for recycling wouldn't they encourage you to recycle the whole can and not just the tabs? I think there is some sort of nefarious soda can tab plot.
PS-Did you guys have tab necklaces at your junior high-high schools? I'm only asking the Americans, because as dumb as teenagers are, I doubt teenagers in other countries would come up with something this dumb. You would put the tabs on a necklace, and each tab was supposed to represent how many times you had sex. But of course we were thirteen and still virgins (for the most part) so the fifty or so tabs around our necks were just shiny metal lies.

Personaly, I think it's a way for companies to say their helping out while minimizing accountability by having people jump through hoops to have them make the donation.
