even though I DESPISE the use of SUVs simply as a status thing or because "they look cool" ... that air out of the tires thing I would be annoyed by. Also, you don't know if someone has a big family, or if they actually use the big cars for business, etc. So you may be pissing someone off that actually has a USE for the car.

Oh well.

SUVs are also unsafe. You're 11% more likely to do in an accident if you drive an SUV.

I'd be a whole lot more pissed off as an SUV owner if that happened to me as a random prank. To actually have someone leaving a note explaining why is kinda cool. This is smart activism.

I think that there are very few people who need an SUV, especially in the city. In rural locations perhaps, but there is totally no need for them in urban settings.

There are so many things wrong with SUV's I don't know where to start. So I won't. All I'll say is "good on 'em (y)" (to those french ppl)

I thought it was pretty funny myself. I've heard cases of people in other countries setting fire to SUVs as a protest. I'd say the people getting their tyres let down are getting off lightly.

Having said that, my dad has an SUV, although it's only small and diesel powered.

I suppose the leaflet is nice.

But seriously, I'd be kinda pissed I have to reinflate my tires. Especially if I had a specific and good reason to be using a SUV. I'd get over it though. Unless it happened to me more than once.

They're wicked protesters, especially their farmers and fishermen. Their fishermen managed to totally block Calais harbour for over a week a few years ago. No cross channel ferries could get in at all.

The ferries weren't smart enough to go to Dunkerque instead???

You don't know much about French society, I'm guessing? Protesting is pretty much their national sport.

It ain't that easy, some of the ports have boarding ramps designed just for the stye of ferries that dock there. And to be honest, I think they also blocked Dunkerque and Boulogne as well.

this reminds me of a story i heard from a guy once. he's a smoker, and he was outside, smoking, and suddenly out of the blue, someone bonks him on the head and knocks the cigarette out of his mouth. as a reflex, he spins around and punches the culprit in the face, and it turns out it's a 15 year old girl or ...apparently part of some kind of activist anti-smoking campaign

the moral of the story is, creative protest is a dangerous game. i'd hate to think what would happen to these guys if an SUV owner caught them in the act.
