did anyone ever see that episode of graham norton and there was an australian woman on who said she did this thing with this chocolate bar(similar to a penguin bar) where you bite off the top left corner and bottom left corner of the chocolate bar and suck tea through it like a straw until you feel the tea/hot drink on your tongue, then turn it over and eat it whole.

it got round to trying it and its really really nice. but i can never have just one so i dont do it too often.

yeah, this is a popular australian custom, with a particular biscuit called the "tim tam" (http://www.arnotts.com/Biscuits/OurBiscuitsP.asp?BID=79)

I was in a 10,000 Villages and I thought of you. A tiny little marble penguin. For something like $20. I can't find a photo of it online, but it looked like this this (http://www.tenthousandvillages.org/photos/product/74/7401120W0.jpg) except it was a penguin and not a bear. It wasn't melted.

We had a huge discussion about tim tams on another forum, so much even that I want some! There was so many flavours that would tickle my tastebuds! Pity my friends in Australia never bothered to purchase and send some to me, even tho I offered to pay richly for them through PayPal!

Now I'm trying to loose some weight so all sweets, cheese and pizza is forbidden! I've lost 2 kilos in a month, would prefer to loose 20 in three months... like that would ever happen

zorra must be asleep or she would have answered. In case you can't wait until the Aussies wake up, yes, biscuit means cookie to them.

My experience is that Australians tend to know what our words mean even if they use different words to describe those same things. If you go there and ask for a cookie, you'll get what you want (something sweet). And they don't make a big fuss about the fact that we used an American word either.

But we tend not to know their lingo and so Australians usually wind up getting doughy/salty dinner rolls when they really want something sweet and animal-shaped and with 100s and 1000s on top. Poor things in our restaurants usually wind up looking like this: ..

Melted Penguin sounds like the name of a grunge band that some sitcom made up to sound cute, yet hardcore funny at the same time.

Audio.

I wonder what got girls to like penguins in the first place? I'd take a mongoose over a penguin anyday. :D
