Does anybody else think the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is kinda weak?

I like an awful lot of their choices for general recognition -- though they often diss bands with a charismatic leader even though the full unit was aces (see: E Street Band, et al) -- but, yeesh.

Frankly, a Hall of Fame seems like it should be for superlative contributions; not just really cool or kinda cool footnotes. I'm not even sure the Allman Brothers belong in a rock and roll hall of fame, let alone Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I like Mellencamp just fine, and I think he's got a couple of A or at least A-minus albums under his belt, but there's NO WAY he should be accorded the same status as, say, the Rolling Stones or Buddy Holly or The Clash. Sorry; nope. If so, where do we draw the line? Bryan Adams? Who wants to make that call once the gates are open this wide?
