Generally, I'm not a huge fan of the idea of two established artists converging on one song, but there are exceptions. It's not usually a problem in rap, though.

Some favorites:

Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross - My Mistake
Bob Dylan And Johnny Cash - Girl From The North Country
Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris - In My Hour of Darkness
BIG and Jay-Z - Brooklyn's Finest
BIG and Method Man - The What
James Brown and Lyn Collins - This Guy's/Girl's In Love With You

Some of the ones I dislike:

Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney - Ebony And Ivory (hate it)
Mick Jagger and David Bowie - Dancing In The Street
Mary J Blige and Method Man - You’re All I Need to Get By

Good:
Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing - Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell
Just about any duet they did together works. The fit together perfectly

Salam E Ishq - Lata Mangeskar and Kishore Kumar
Two of Bollywood's best on one of Bollywood's best songs. Even if you don't understand what they are saying, you can feel it. Many of my pink toed friends have admitted it. I think a lot of the duets with these two or Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bholse had/have the same effect in the late 70's and early 80's

Bad:
Any duet from Grease

This tends to be the case with all things which were once good in rap. Think g-funk, sped-up vocals, the Impeach The President break, diggitying, bone-thugging, fu-shnicking etc. It always starts out fine, and then the clones drag it into the mud.
