i don't know, i just feel uncomfortable watching it somehow. like, it's supposed to be the same characters (just different names), only it's...perverse somehow. that's not tim! and that gareth's not right at all. what's with lee? he's not supposed to be fat, he's supposed to be intimidating.

i don't know, standing on it's own, it might be funny, but it's not the office, it's too awkward. and not awkward in a good way, like the office was.

i like steve carrell, but he's too...wacky to be david brent. it's not working for me

man, this tim is pissing me off. it's obvious that he's trying to be martin freeman, but hey, he's not martin freeman. it's like watching someone do karaoke to one of your favorite songs. even if they do it reasonably well, it's still somebody else playing your favorite character

i love the original, and also enjoyed the two episodes of the american version.

then they canned it, i guess it wasn't doing well here.

The US version tries too hard. It all seems so contrived and unauthentic, whereas the original wasn't so concerned with things like letting you hear every single bit of dialogue.

I never saw the original, so the US version is new to me.

I find it entertaining.

Last night was pretty damn funny. I think this is the 3rd one I have seen and it is definetly growing on me. I lost it when Pam was outside with her fiancee and they cut back to michael and he has the fake asian glasses and is all replacing his "L"s with "R"s and shit. Ridiculous.

The one I saw from last season when they did the "Cultural Unity" was pretty damn funny.

"Umm, how about we go eat some Colored Greens?"

"Uhh, It's Collard Greens"

"I don't get it, they're not Collard People?"

I really really wish they'd test Mackenzie Crook to see if he'd be good as the Joker in the next Batman movies.

Then I crawl back to my Micronaut collection and all my troubles go away. :o

The interjection "cripes!" is a modification of "Christ!" - due to (long since repealed) strict UK laws banning blasphemy. A Similar exclamation is "zounds!" (God's Wounds) - there are many more.

i figured out why i don't like the US office;

a big part of what made the UK version so charming to me was how perfectly casted the characters were. gareth was absolutely perfect, tim was absolutely perfect, brent, dawn, lee, etc...i'm guessing that the actors sort of brought their own elements to the characters and that's what made them so funny. but what they've done for the US version is try to keep the characters exactly the same (aside from the names), but all the actors are replaced, and it's just not right. it's like watching karaoke. it's a cover show, is what it is.

the us version is crap compared to the uk version. they did the same with red dwarf many years ago, they made a pilot for the US market but it flopped miserably, yet the uk version is loved by many. in general uk comedy appeals more to australians than yanks.
