View Full Version : Stomach Ulcer?

ToucanSpam

The last two weeks I have been unable to consume food of any kind. I personally believe it is stress related or something, but it becomes and issue when I can't even eat a fucking slice of pizza without feeling like it's coming back up. It's not the stomach flu either, because I can do cartwheels if I feel like it. I'm just so damn hungry and petrified that it is gonna come back up.

There are some events in the past couple weeks that have driven my anxiety level through the roof, and yeah.... CQD?

it could be and ulcer. I had that once, cause I'm a stress case. at the time it was only about six months after my dad died, so I was pretty stressd. every time I ate, after a few bites I was nauseated. I also had some sharp stomach pain too. the good news is ulcers can heal. my doctor gave me Nexium(the little purple pill) and it went away.

I'm not quite prepared to go visit a doctor about this, I just want to know if there are any other methods to make this cool out before a doctor shoves something into my face. Please don't answer with something stupid like 'sleep' or some 'clever' one liner. I'll laugh but I will throw pieces of toast with jam at your faces.

It's probably just a tapeworm. I wouldn't worry about it. Have a beer.

If it doesn't feel right, then you need to get it sorted. If it's coming around among a time of upheaval or stress, then it's probably environmental. The problem there is that you could convince yourself you're unwell to the point where you would actually make yourself so.

Good Luck.

What do you mean you aren't ready to go to a doctor? just go you silly canadian with your socialized medicine! I thought you got health care regardless of if you can pay for it?

Anyway....you could try a raw foods diet. for a few weeks and see if it gets better. don't eat sugar, or anything that's processed or might have chemicals in it. Don't eat anything spicy (obviusly) just eat ORGANIC raw veggies and fruits (but try not to eat things that are acidic like oranges and tomatoes). I suggest you look some things up on the net about naturopathic treatment of ulcers for better guidence.

Perhaps it's karma... :D

when you're an asshole, things happen to the ass tract. What can I say?

But even since you smite me on the board, I shall turn the other cheek and offer you some advice. Avoid milk products because that increases the secretion of stomach acid and that is the problem with you.

the best thing for your friend and for you is to send them to a shrink or get them professional help of some sort and then get thy self to a doctor. if you don't want the doc to give you drugs then hire a neutritionalist that can help you deal with this naturally so that you don't mask the symptoms of your problem with drugs but instead work on solving the problem.

I have had friends who needed help and I did. but there came a point where i had to say this is beyond me, you need professional help and I will help you get it.and my friends have thanked me for it.

Have you ever had any American beer besides Bud and Miller products? There be a lot of em out there that blow your canuckian swill away.

And this is a no brainer. Go to a doctor, get yourself checked out, and live happy until the next problem comes up.

You're misinterpreting me. In most tapeworm cases, you can safely stab them from the outside and not hit any vital organs, provided that you inhale deeply before you attempt to stab yourself. And hold make sure you hold your breath until you're finished stabbing. By inhaling, all vital organs contract and your placenta should harden, forming sort of a barrier around those organs. When you exhale the placenta softens again.

I hear what your saying all the doctor will tell you is basically try not to worry so much about it and help him when you can...I feel your pain its like you want to do something but really you cant I just had a friend of mine call me yesterday and she going through some really hard times its just how many times can you say keep yo head up without worrying if that person believes you but she saids she does all you can do is just feel better bout the fact your helping someone out...and I'm being serious to you too, your doing a good thing for being there for someone...that right there is what seperates the people with purpose and those who dont do shit.

Maybe eat mild/bland foods for a couple of weeks. Nothing red. Look on the Web for ulcer-friendly foods. It'll be a bland couple of weeks. Maybe get your stress under control with exercise. Good luck, TS.

i have always heard milk was good for an ulcer! the problem is the stomach acid eating away at your stomach (because there is nothing in there) and the milk may produce more acid but it also coats the stomach so the acid does not hurt it!

i could be wrong! i'm not a doctor!

I've found that it helps to do a some quality research first and then go to the doctor equipped with that information. I systematically try some things on my own first. After I do that and if things don't improve, then I go to my doctor. I'll say, "I had <x> symptoms. I read about them. I did <y> things in this way. The symptoms didn't improve. What's next?" That gives her a bit more to go on.

Otherwise, you go and the doctor tells you to do this set of common sense things and tells you to come back in <n> weeks and then she charges you for that visit and the next one too.

I think it depends on how severe the illness is or can be.
Por ejemplo.....if I have a fever accompanied with stuffiness, I wouldn't go to the doctor. I would rest up, take some OTCs, and watch the food network until I felt better.
But if I thought that there was something as severe as a hole in my stomach, I wouldn't want to risk things getting worse and would call a doctor.
But thats just me.

Right--like if we're talking spurty blood...maybe don't do that quality research first.

(I actually thought about saying something like that above but I know that some people here have a hard time with length so I opted out, thinking that they'd figure it out. But you never know, I guess. :))

"Most of us spend most of our time trying not to think about our bowel movements, so it’s no surprise that many people do not know what a “normal” bowel movement is. The fact is that there is no 1 definition of a normal bowel movement. There are gradations of normal, and every person is going to have different bowel habits. There are, however, several signs that a bowel movement is abnormal and should be discussed with a physician."

"Many people believe that the definition of a normal bowel movement is having 1 movement each day, but that is not true for everyone. There is no rule for frequency of bowel movements, but the general range is from 3 times a day to 3 times a week. Less than 3 movements a week may indicate constipation, and more than 3 watery stools a day could indicate diarrhea." - http://ibscrohns.about.com/od/dailylife/a/normalbm.htm

Then again it is the internet.

you should go to a doctor. I know I already said it but I say it again. I'm usually right about these things. this is very sad but true: I once had a friend who was very very ill. I tried to get him to go to a doctor and he refused and he died the next day from an embelism (sp?) I don't know if going to the hospital any sooner would have saved him, but I often wish he had listened to me. are you scared now? good. go to the fucking doctor ok?

boys_beastie

you really should see a doctor. my biology teacher once told me that his uncle died from a stomach ulcer :( he got it from chewing gum which made him swallow lots of saliva which made his stomach fill up with acid thinking there'd be food to digest but there wasnt any so the acid caused an ulcer.
