This shit has got to end.
I haven't heard anything yet, but when I read this thread I thought that gmsisko1 must have sent a message to one of the admin's saying that he'd go on a hunger strike until he was let back onto the board.
I'm taking it that's not the case, though.

I think if he went without eating for more than a few hours, he would likely forget how to.

Is this their second hunger strike or even more?Fewer on Guantanamo hunger strike
The number of detainees on hunger strike at the US military prison in Guantanamo Bay is said to have fallen by almost two-thirds since last week.
Spokeswoman Angela King-Sweigart was quoted by the AP news agency as saying that 45 detainees were currently on hunger strike, down from 131 last week.
Prisoners must miss nine meals in a row for the US military to classify them as being on a hunger strike.
The protest began on 8 August, the latest in a series of hunger strikes since 2002.
No explanation was given for the sharp decrease in the number of hunger strikers over the past week, AP says.
Fifteen of the 45 detainees on hunger strike had been taken to hospital, Ms King-Sweigart said, but could not confirm if any were being tube-fed.
Several detainees have been tube-fed during the hunger strike.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4267326.stmApalling. Where is the outrage? These people have never been given a fair trial and can be held indefinitely. Absolutely disgusting. Americans should be ashamed of themselves for allowing their government to do such a thing. Judging from the responses in this thread, even enlightned people such as yourselves are so insulated from what's going on that you hardly find this as appaling as I do. I hear the Nazis kept their Death Camps a secret from the German People, too.
I call on any of you to defend the actions of your government in this regard.
I also ask you to consider the fate of America citizens deemed 'enemy combatants' by your government... coming soon!
Hitler would be proud of what the US has become. I really, really mean that.

Well, with all due respect, how should we respond?
Most of us have been trumpeting just how bad the current administration is and how bad Iraq is. It does little good here. Money talks, non bullshit walks.
The truth will get you arrested. The country needs to shake it's case of bad fleas, I just don't know how that can be made possible as long as material and monetary assets remain the peak of the mountain.

You must mean Barney Hitler, the guy down the block in the green house, he keeps his dog locked up in the backyard everyday. Fucking Barney, what an ass. Pretty sure he voted republican. Your right.
Well, with all due respect, how should we respond?
I want a Bush supporter to convince me that it's right that those people should be where they are: being treated so badly that they prefer to die by starving themselves to death, having to be kept alive with feeding tubes, being tortured every fucking day of their fucking lives by professional torturers, whose hobby is also their job.
Why don't they just kill them. It'd be kinder. Why is the US being allowed to get away with this? Where is the fucking UN? Where is the International Condemnation, Economic sanctions and other international pressure which would be brought to bear on any country which would dare treat American citizens so?
What good is it doing keeping those people there? All it's doing is incurring even more hatred towards the US and Americans by the rest of the world, making it easier and easier for extremist groups to recruit angry young men and women...
And the world just doesn't care. (http://news.google.com/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn&q=Guantanamo)

Exercise a bit of patience Ali. The shit comes out in the wash, so to speak.
We all want action now--well some of us anyway--but the fact is, we as citizens can do very little while we are involved in such a rigged game.
Exercise a bit of patience Ali. The shit comes out in the wash, so to speak.Well, the shit in the wash includes angry young men and women, easily manipulated by groups with political intent into doing something very, very stupid and getting a lot of innocent people killed.
The Wheel turns.
