I remember watching the And You Don't Stop: 30 Years Of Hip Hop documentary on VH1, and when they started talking about the Beastie Boys, the first person they cut to was Russell Simmons who said, "Ah. The Beastie Boys." And then he said something that got bleeped out, and then he laughed. It was definitely an insult towards them.

Let's not forget when Russell interviewed the Beasties for a magazine in 2004, and Russell was acting like a jackass to them. It was obvious just reading it that the Beastie Boys didn't want to be in the same room with him.

So yeah, even though it's been almost 20 years, to say the Beastie Boys and Russel Simmons STILL don't have a good relationship would be an understatement.

I can tell Adrock was very irritable by not answering too much....I know the boys are grown men and could fend for themselves....but I love the way they got eachothers back.

Since leaving russell I believe the beasties have never made 1 track 'just for the fans'. Everything they have done is stuff they like, which naturally pulls in real fans of theirs.

Like on the last Eminem record, he had all his tracks, but the record company and 'his people' wanted a song which would reach pop status, etc..which he done relunctantly.
