I really want the Sabotage DVD and the LTI VHS; once I have those everything else is icing (I would like to own all the albums on vinyl).

I could have bought the Triple Trouble and OLTNYC singles (CD and 12" respectively) but they didn't have any new music so I didn't bother. I kind of regret it, but I'll live. I was also in London earlier this year and saw the Australian special edition of TT5B and almost bought it, but it was 20 pounds. That's like triple what I would pay for a CD normally.

Here's my collection (http://members.chello.se/tuijasgarden/beastiecollection.jpg) of all kinds of stuff: records, VHS's, DVD's, mags, cuttings, photos, memorabilia

and here's my T-shirts (http://members.chello.se/tuijasgarden/beastietshirts.jpg) , 8 short sleeved and 4 long sleeved (if you want closeups, check beastiemania), three homemade ones (one from 1987) have already ended up as floor rags.

My skateboard's in the basement (homepainted) and Yauch's olive pit is somewhere so safe I didn't find it..
Oh yeah and I have dozens of posters, some are on my bedroom wall, but most of them are rolled up in safe (I ain't a teenage anymore so most my posters are framed, not covering every inch of the wall).

I am very thankful for having power again. It was hotter than a s.o.b. today. The only thing that gave us any relief were the winds, they were still pretty strong.

I would take pictures, but I don't have a way to upload them to this pc. I left my camera cable at home. I forgot alot of stuff at home. I guess I had enough time to grab more stuff, but my mind was so damned clouded with horrible thoughts of what my home was going to be in for.

I guess I should be thankful for all the stuff that I did get out and that all of my family is here in Lafayette with me.

I keep my keys on a chain around my neck. :) Mr Sasquach is tucked away in nice cool spot where no sun can fade his fur.

I most definately will post pictures at a later time and date of some of the devistation from the area and of all the stuff packed into the back of my truck.

Its way too damn much. I've got like 40-50 CDs if you include the bootlegs and singles. 2 Crates of vinyl. OG presses of all the LPs and singles almost everything mint condition. All the picture discs. Grand Royal Color Vinyl on most everything that came out like that. 10-20 7"s. All the big ticket stuff. Country Mike on grand royal (I don't have the red vinyl though, only the black, but it is the real deal not a bootleg), Polywog stew 7", Rock Hard, MCA & Burzootie (at one time I had about 20 sealed copies of this). I also have a ton of copies for scratching and fucking around with on the turntables

I got a lot of shit when it came out and found a lot of shit in the pre-eBay days, but then when eBay first hit I racked up a lot of shit. There's a few things I never got around to picking up but will some day. Gratitude 12" (don't really want to pay $30 on eBay), Cookie Puss picture cover import, She's On It in mint condition (I got a couple copies but they aren't up to par). Then there's a bunch of European presses and whatnot from Hello Nasty and To the 5 Buroughs that I never had the effort to pay for. Back in the day the variations and stuff were reasonable, and now its like 15 different versions of each single come out.

Some of my stuff are signed by Yauch and Mike, I didn't meet Adrock until after the gig in Belfast and I didn't have my stuff with me there. Also Yauch got fed up signing after a while so he only signed a few. Fair enough.

The ones with their signatures are
Check your head LP
Ill communication LP
Paul's boutique LP
She´s crafty / Girls / Rock hard 12"
Sure shot 12"
Sabotage VHS

After the Belfast gig I did get my setlist (http://www.beastiemania.com/gigog/show.php?g=19950309) signed by everyone and also my long sleeved shirt.
I got the Rolling Stone T-shirt signed in Manchester, they wouldn't do it in Stockholm cause they were at this club and Yauch was afraid he'd be just signing all evening if he started with me. Otherwise he was such a gentleman, taking off his woolly hat and was genuinly worried when he found out I'd broken my glasses in the mosh pit.

Heh, it was fun ogling your collection. :)

Can I just give a tiny bit of advice... as a bookbinder... I think I see a book resting on its fore edge (the side opposite the spine)? Just to the left of a white binder (which also on its fore edge)? This is bad for books -- the weight of the pages will pull them away from the cover and break the binding.

Just wanted to mention it because it looks like a nice book (rounded spine and all) and I'd hate for it to get damaged. If it's a heavy book you might want to store it laying flat. (We have a lot of heavy art books that we do store standing up, they're shelved fairly tightly and support each other.)

Also a little PSA for all the book collectors out there..

Thanks for the advice. But they really aren't books. :)

The big white one is filled with "clear sleeves" that contain newspaper/mag. clippings. Another one is a photo album. Then there is a small black binder that is also filled with the "clear sleeves" with the press kits/release/photos.

I wouldn't worry about the binders so much but the photo album could be damaged for the reason I described.

I bet it's a fun album to page through. ;)

OK, I updated my music list with the CDs I have bought in the last 6 months, only a few. My friends say I'm obsessed but I just love the beats and rhymes. I don't have much of a collection aside form the music: a few books (pass the mic 91-96 and in their own words) a mobile form hello nasty, and a few posters (one signed by the artist who designed it). I have 2500 total songs on my ipod and 250 are b-boys so they come up quite often in random mode.

OK, so! I go out to dinner tonight at the place we always go to... (saw Jake Gyllenhaal there) anyways, then the usual ritual is to go to the record shop across the street. Lo and behold they are closing. :( However, the whole store is super mega on sale. (y) I hooked up 6 new items to add to the collection. In my current drunken stupor, I threw a bunch of other misc stuff out and took a photo to share. I have more shit than what's in the pic, like the gigantic nerd that I am. Anyhoo, I put a red arrow next to my finds tonight... yeah, the big one is the vinyl Sounds of Science that has been unopened! FOR 40% off! F*ck YEAH! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/jdawgphotos/crazy.jpg)

I'm going to pass out now. Gnight.

seriously where the blue blazes did you get that jacket!!?

On my wish list includes one of THOSE jackets, a silver trucker cap with their name on it (as in right right now now) and a pair of the awesome adidas trainers that have that clog symbol instead of an apple and are signed by the group. Shame there's only like 12 in existence.

Oh well, you have to have a dream . . . . .

(When I get back to uni I'll take a pic of all my shirts and my lti hoodie  )

I bought my bro a signed copy of LTI for xmas (I sooooo wanted to keep it :( )

One of the security peeps at the London gig last december gave a setlist to my little sister and we hung around the backstage bit for ages trying to spot the beasties so we could ask them to kindly sign it.

We got moved along :( and we came all the way from south-west london!!

ebay. no really. he showed me. cost a lot. (!)

and who was stupid enough to sell it!? unless mark himself stuck it on ebay

ebay uk sucks because no-one has any decent stuff, apart from a together forever tour shirt that went for about 50 quid today

i got this for a bargain price considering it is meant to be rare

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7572270631&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

i also won these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7565429070&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8357055811&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7572339044&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

I kind of have a monopoly on beastie memorabilia that comes on ebay uk (mwah-ha-ha!)

I have a few more shirts and a hoodie that i will take photos of and put in the collection thread and soon as i get back to oxford

Damn Paul! Nice score.

Hey, I got a question... this ltd edition Sounds of Science 4LP of, I guess, 6000 copy I have now... it's still in the shrink wrap and someone told me I should not open it. I have the coffee table book that recently was sold through powerhouse books. I assume that's the same book? Am I missing out on anything major if I leave this in it's shrink wrap? Seems a tad silly to not be able to open it if ya ask me. It was listed at $135 bucks and I got 40% off of that. Still a lotta cash to pay for something to not touch. Please advise.

I love keeping all my things sealed. I havent opened my Anthology book, i even bought a 2nd one brand new for 6 bucks off ebay. But i was a bit hesitant at first when i got my Anthology vinyl to open it. But knowing the # is the best part. I got #360. But once i knew the # i didnt touch it really again. Ive never pulled the vinyls out of the sleeves or even really looked at the pics.

I wuz just tryin to 'overuse' the word 'awesome'. I'm on board with Miramanee on that one. I think it's a fabulous idea. We should all straight up, abuse that word until the 31st of March!

ps - If I wanna see that jacket at all... I wanna see it on ME!

Thanks man, that jacket is sweeeet. I've only been on the boards for a few days (never had a PC with broadband in the house before) so it was good to get a response!
I've seen the BB figures in the sardine can for sale at $1499, thinking about forming some kind of group where everyone chips in buys them and shares ownership! (ever seen the Simpsons episode "3 men and a comic book"?)

I have to own them somehow...........

I'll be selling alot of my stuff on ebay soon. I got tons of beastie collectibles.

Ive got about 25 t-shirts (mainly from LTI era). Some of the shirts arent even on BEASTIEMANIA.COM.

Ive also got about 15 posters, but those are all tucked away. tons of mags and newspapers clippings and videos.

Yep. That's it exactly. Kind of like collecting coins of different mints. They are the same, but different.

You're possibly the most anal person I know about this stuff.... Don't get me wrong, this beotch knows his stuff, but damn if he isn't a perfectionist. You know I <3 U BFL but damn if you aren't a special breed.

This Mofo has releases before the Beasties even thought they released it..

The funny thing is that there are others who I know are far more (you say anal, I say knowledgeable) than I am. I guess it is all relative, but I'm really pretty low on the food chain.

I've added a few more since taking this pic, including Country Mike's greatest hits. I only ever buy vinyl. Probably a mistake in hindsight since it's so hard to find some stuff. Still, i like it better. Bigger artwork.

Im concerned about getting the shirts dirty or damaged so I dont really wear them all that much, I kinda wanna frame them to keep them as collectibles safely.

Don't. Seriously they won't be worth half as much (in the future) as to how good it feels reppin' a beastie tee right away.

Don't sit on it, flaunt it!!! (y)

Do any of you collect Grand Royal stuff? Does that count? I think at least "The Hurra" should count.
I've got some GR stuff, like Hurra vinyl signed, T-shirts (worn to shreads), turntable matt...

Oh yeah and I have dozens of posters, some are on my bedroom wall, but most of them are rolled up in safe (I ain't a teenager anymore so most my posters are framed, not covering every inch of the wall).
I wonder if anybody has those photos saved anywhere? I don't seem to have them anymore after several computer crashes.... and Wayback Machine don't archive photos. I bet my collection of records, books and T's has increased a bit since then.

I've got two skateboards (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3573/3837913840_02f93f41b6_z.jpg) these days....

And once someone here gave away some promoposters, sort of competition, and I won it! One of the best posters (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3083/3088364008_39e84d55fa_b.jpg) I have of the Boys.

Yeah right on, truth right there.

I love reppin, and I search so many stores to find shirts to, honest.
I searched the mall by my house, and found 2 shirts total. I was salty.

I wanna go through stores to find other stuff I dont wanna order anything offline, So I can take more pride in my collection.

People slamming you for getting everything online, is kinda dumb in this day and age.

Short history lesson for the under 30 yr. olds. (Wall of text below)

There used to be record stores all over the f-ing place. There were the big chains, The Warehouse, Sam Goody, Music+, etc etc... Then there were the local places that had the good shit. The chains were good for top 40, stickers, and t-shirts. Towards the end of chain stores started selling used CD's, and I found some rare stuff that had been traded in, but for the most part, they weren't great for finding anything other that radio music.

Then there are/were the local places, (Mine were, and still are, Mad Platter, AMC Music, and Groove Time) they have the people who know everything and anything about music. Employees are very well versed in everything from Slayer to NWA to Beethoven, these are the monks who catalog everything in the store, and sometimes knew the inventory in other people's stores, and if not, they'll call the other store for you. (They honestly want to help you find what you're looking for) If you were a regular, they would help you find things on your "List", Special order stuff for you, and you'd wait a month for delivery, and you'd be happy... It was a relationship, you built it over years of coming in once or twice a month (In my case) or even more often.

Going to the "record store" back then was a half a day event. You got up early, (Saturday) and set out for the day, half the day set aside for digging. You'd go in and hit the racks you'd haunted a million times before, find what you wanted, then you'd browse everything else in the store looking for something that wasn't there the last time you were in. And after 4 hours of looking, flipping LPs, CDs, and Cassettes, you'd settle up, actually say THANK YOU!! and leave.

Shopping for music used to be an experience, it was an adventure, and it still can be... I still hit up the shops, I don't buy as much as I used to, but that comes with less disposable income, and less time on my hands to dig.

I've bought plenty of Beastie "stuff" online. couple of reasons why. I just can't find it locally, and if I could it would take years for it to magically appear in the glass case where the cool stuff is. Second, it's just easier than hitting the same shops over and over looking and being disappointed.

You being 16, and potentially not having local record shops nearby, I see no need to slam you for buying online (If you do). The lack of local ways to buy music has turned a lot of people to the internet to get their fix.

There's just something about looking offline, in the real world for a record, that you've heard about, and hunted for months, or years, walking into your local shop with $100 in your pocket, and finding it right there waiting for you to buy it. It wasn't there last week, and now, HERE IT IS!!!!!!!!!

Sorry if you missed those times, but those times are still there to be had, look for a local shop and make a friend.

I think part of the reason people are up in your shit is they really worked hard to find some of the stuff they feel you may or may not have picked up fairly easily due to the nature of the internet. Someone who looked for a 12" for 6 months doesn't appreciate when someone else can get the same 12" with 2 minutes of searching on the internet, and have it in 2 days.

People have been collecting Beastie Boys releases since they began, and in the beginning it wasn't as easy as it is now. So for you to come along YEARS and YEARS after people had already begun collecting, and claiming you have the biggest and best collection disturbs people who've been hard at work collecting Beastie stuff for a LONG time. In a lot of cases since a decade before you were even born.

Believe it or not (I'll just assume you won't believe it) Your collection is cool and all, and I applaud anyone who loves the Beastie Boys as much as all of us here do, but your collection is DWARFED by more than a few people's collections. Yes I said it, it is true, and it's a fact. There's no shame in having a collection that's smaller than someone else's. Some of those people have had a considerable lead on you, 10 or 15 years. You'll get there, you are not there now, but don't fret, one day they'll need money and you can buy them out. My collection PALES in comparison to a lot of people's collections, ya' know what, I don't care, I have what I have, I buy what I like, and nobody dictates how big my collection gets, but me.

Just settle down, make some friends here, learn to take sarcasm lightly, and you'll be fine here. You're not the biggest, you're not the best, you're JUST one of us.. :)

Do you have a Half Price Books in your area? It usually carries Beastie Boys gems. Found some Japan imports there one time for a dollar. It was something I already had but I bought it anyway. You might even get lucky and find vinyl. We have a few small record stores like Sound Revolution still around in Houston which is close to me that also has CD’s and vinyl. I like the technology age but I also liked being able to browse and buy my music in person. Not the kids fault today but they sure did miss out.

Impressions from the Beastie Boys Party!

Here's a little something for ya:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxL7dZY6xBs

I wanted to make a better, bigger and longer video for everybody who wasn't there, but i've forgotten to do this.
In this short video you see my record crates wit lots of Beastie sh_t. For a short moment you see a record with white sleeve where I wrote on it: Beastie Boys - Paul's boutique. This is the 10 years jubilee edition of Pauls Boutique. The Original LP cover is at home. As I know it was the only edition which came out as a double LP. Usually they press the whole record only on one vinyl, which I don't understand.
In this crate is a Record of Country Mike too. Alright, it's a bootleg reissue. But there are also some 7" records. For example the "Make some noise" only UK record steore release limited to 500pcs or the Alive 7" with Big Shot Lives as B-side, the intergalactic 7" and the get it together 7" on green vinyl.
Some samplesources too on 7" like the Commoderes - machine gun, Alan Moorhouse - Soul Skimmer (Jazzman reissue), Curtis Mayfield - Superfly, James Brown - Ain't It Funky Now, Burundi Black - Burundi Black, The Village Callers - Hector and so on. Some Samplesources on LP of course too. For example: Rose Royce - OST Car wash, AC-DC - Back In Black, Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band, Gene Harris - the three sounds, Public Enemy - Bring The Noise 12" and more.
What is special in my Beasties colection? I think i don't have really some super rare stuff. But i've got the most official 12" singles, some promos like shure shot and get it together, many remix stuff on vinyl and all the Beastie albums of course.
Oh yes, some side projects I've brought also with me. I've got Money Mark - Marks Keyboard repair (3x10") and other Money Mark stuff, Mix Master Mike and DJ Hurricane. Then there is Unkle (feat. Mike D) Handsome Boy Modelling School, a Björk remix and a Fatboy Slim remix made by the Beasties.

DJ Reedo (aka. Professor Ill) has got some good stuff too.
But DJ Mad (aka. Mad-Rock) has got the biggest colection with many many super rare stuff. He didn't bring this much to the party, because he played only in the beginning and he doesen't like to touch his vinyl. Hes a little allergic on fingerprints. But I'm quite jealous on his vinyl colection.

You will hear much of this stuff in the set that we've played. I will post it as soon as i've cut it in parts that make sense and I upload it. The link will be posted here of couse.

Go for it. The only reason I did it was to have some type of video to go with the Posse In Effect demo. I had so much stuff I just had to skim through a lot of it.

Whoah, what's up with that LTI Atari 2600 game? Does that actually play?

Nice collection!

Hey,
Not sure about the story behind the Atari game, got it on eBay some years ago, and I don't know if it will play any game :)

Considering there was never a Bboy game produced and also the title is spelled incorrectly, it's obviously a sticker over a different game.

Maybe, but there are a lot of bootleg Atari and other games out there made by hobby programmers. You never really know.
