we have a gig

in my spare time i sing in a band. well, calling it "band" would be exaggerated... it's just me and three guys in a basement, jammin, drinking, smoking (cigarettes, of course, what were YOU thinking :D ). a few days ago one of the guys told us that we have been asked to play to a club opening in zurich, so it's going to be in front A LOT of people. the band that was supposed to play backed out.
my problem is that i have never performed in public, i have a serious problem with that. singing in front of my friends is one thing, singing in front of strangers.... what if i can't carry a tune that night? what if i can't remember the lyrics? what if i'm about to start singing and my voice just won't come out??? what if i get stage fright (which i already have)???? :(
i really don't know what to tell the guys, i'm torn between "yes, thats awesome!" and "are u completely nuts!?"

thanx! but i still don't know if i'm really gonna do it... :( the thought of me, on the stage, singing and stuff..... it's just tooooo strange! and i'm scared as hell! the guys are trying really hard to get me on board, saying that i owe them this one performance..... :( oh, man.....
and to make it even worse: i don't consider myself a good singer, not good enough for a club filled with people.

I thoght I would be nervous first time but once it started the nerves went. Last gig I played was in 92 in front of 2000 people at a local festival

Yes! Just have some fun! (For me, it's more difficult to perform in front of friends than it is strangers. If you can already sing in front of your friends, you might find the strangers part loads easier.)

When you get on stage you'll feel nervous but it's the adrenaline that will take over and as soon as the music starts the crowd won't bother you as much. Good luck with the gig. (y)

Once you get up there and start to feel the audience getting into it, you'll be okay. Just tell yourself, as long as I can get through one song, I will be fine. After that you should be alright.

our gig was last friday, and it was awwwwwwwwsoooooome!!! before the show i had to throw up a few times ( :D ) but it was totally worth it. in two weeks we're gonna have our next gig.
