I am lucky enough to live about an hour from a drive in movie theater. To all you guys out there with a special lady, I strongly recommend trying to find a drive in, and take your woman ASAP ! Way earlier tonight I took my new gal to go see that horrid piece of hollywood trash known as the dukes of hazzard, but it didn't matter since once we got there, she didn't want to see the movie anyway. There must be something in the air at those places ... swamp gas, or something because that place made her "spunkier" than a sailor on shore leave in the phillippines. Now I'm even a big hit with all her friends for taking her there.

just thought I would give you guys a hot tip ! (y)

I've never come arcoss a drive in movie. I'd like to but I don't think they exist here? Anyone ever seen one in the UK? Cus I can see exactly what your saying with date potential.

It was something spontaneous and different - most of all fun ! I wish I could've been a teenager in the fifties like my folks.

Oh my, there was nothing like the drive-ins. They survived just long enough for me to enjoy them in my early dating career. We would pop popcorn at home and bring it with us. I also had all the fixings for margaritas in the trunk of my car.

Usually the first movie would be pretty good, and the next two would be complete trash. I think it was intentional. At one drive-in near me, the fog would tend to roll in and make the screen impossible to see 1/2 way through the second movie. That happened when we were seeing Halloween and it was pretty creepy.

At a drive in there's no need to go to The Snack Bar cause you can bring all the goods with ya and even nowadays its still only costs $5 a car/truck/van load to get in ! Its beats bowling alleys and other hangouts put together. My girlfriend wants to go again this weekend - I cant wait ! (y)

You mean there's still a drive-in near you? I haven't seen one around here (Georgia) in years. I've actually only seen three movies at the drive-in. Star Wars, Grease, and American Graffiti.

You having seen Star Wars on a drive in movie screen sounds like an awesomely cool experience indeed. (y)

There's a drive-in here in Tulsa. The Admiral Twin. It's the one they went to in The Outsiders. I've been there several times. (y)

When we were little, we would know when my parents were planning a Drive-In Night because my ma would have packed sandwiches that afternoon and dad would clean the front windscreen when he got home from work.

We'd watch him from the side yard, so damn excited.

They liked to surprise us with those visits, so we never let on that we were in the know. We never had to fake excitement when we pulled into the place because even though we knew ahead of time that we were going, there was something about it that made us squeal.

In the 80s, all of my childhood drive-ins became porny. Which I always found to be very funny. I went a few times with friends and that was a blast, although we usually always left early because we couldn't keep from laughing and the people around us in the cars were DEAD-ON SERIOUS ABOUT THEIR DRIVE-IN PORN.

Porn music is so underrated.

^^ I forgot about the cleaning the windshield! My dad would slave over the windshield. And we would bring loads of bug spray. And lawn chairs, because if it wasn't crowded, my friend and I would sit in another spot with the speaker and our lawn chairs.

My best friend's parents had a huge station wagon so they would park that backwards and we could lay down in back and see the movie. Her parents would always want to see those Trinity movies--about some stupid cowboy.

You always had to check out the speaker right when you got there in case it didn't work.

I believe that my last drive in movie was Friday the 13th part 3 in 3D on a double bill with one of the Halloween sequels. The movies were usually better than that, but that time we were just looking for a place to get hammered.

I remember that the first time I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark was at a drive in and they would start the movie before it was really dark so it was difficult to see the first chase with the big rolling ball.

I mostly miss that you used to drive by the drive ins on the highway and see what was playing on the screen.
