Yep. I wish Weezer had a greatist hits album. As a casual fan, it'd save me from having to shell out for each of their albums. I can imagine people feeling the same way about the Beastie Boys.

I think it's agood idea, because it brings the good stuff to the attention to those who've only heard the singles a few times on the radio or whereever and are curious, so this'll be a perfect opportunity for those to check out some more. Also getting everything on video as well is a good idea, having everything on one disc instead of scattered around on different singles and other media.

I don't think it's a great idea artisticly but it's surely not a damage.

as much as it affects me, i'd say probably not. SGH doesn't really have anything that isn't readily available to the least enthusiastic of beastie fans. but being a completist, i'll take anything the beasties have to offer.
if i wasn't familiar with the beasties (for those living in a cave for the last 24 years), this would be a good introduction and hence, a good idea. a nice, little sampler of the beastie's (hip-hop) career.

If it'll help convert some outsiders to the path of righteousness then it can surely be a good thing.

I dont think there doing it for the money. Capitol said if they dont let "Solid Gold Hits" out then they wont let the Live DVD out.
