..supposed to be some kind of followup to harvest and harvest moon. Gave it a first listen today and it's quality, but not as good as harvest moon and obviously not as good as harvest. Probably equal to greendale which i really liked.

The lyrics are so neil young it's almost ridicilous. Also a tribute song to elvis in there. What did you people think?

This is another NY album which is available in a high resolution digital format. When you buy the CD+DVD package (http://www.neilyoung.com/premiere.html), the dvd has a 96kHz/24bit track that any dvd player* can play. FYI: CDs use the 44.1kHz/16bit format. Though when watching the recording session video, the format used is 48kHz/24bit. But from what I've been reading-and personally hearing with my own middle class Technics/Boston Acoustics gear-without going into all the technical mumbo-jumbo, many believe the number of bits used is more important than the sampling rate.

Neil's Greatest Hits CD+dvd package is also done like this-the sticker describes it as "Super Saturated Stereo". :)

When a disc uses the 48/24 or especially the 96/24 format, you are basically hearing the studio's master tape in your own home. Several of his other albums (http://rhino.com/store/ArtistCatalog.lasso?Artist=Neil%20Young) were transferred to the dvd-audio format and they-including Harvest-use the 192kHz/24bit format, but you have to own a dvd-audio player to hear these tracks (starts at $100 for a stereo-only Panasonic (http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?displayTab=O&storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=69527&catGroupId=24988&modelNo=DVD-S47S&surfModel=DVD-S47S&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702)).

* except maybe those $40 types, several of which aren't built to the proper Dvd Consortium specifications and may be missing the required 96/24 decoder chip.

I adore Neil, but I'm not a big fan of Harvest.

I'm looking forward to the Jonathan Demme movie though.
