Interesting choice.
Jimmy the Greek said the same thing. I'm hoping it's better, though.

Apparantly it's based on a GN made by John Wagner and Vince Locke. Does anyone have any info on them?

Apparently I will be repaying a favor this weekend by seeing (gulp) The Greatest Game Ever Played with a friend.
As if caddying for him isn't enough.
Please sympathize with me.
I would rather see the history/violence movie for Ed Harris alone or The Constant Gardener.

Erp.
That's kind of too bad... if that movie is actually what I'm hearing it is; Paxton's first movie as director, Frailty, is one I'm really big on. (y)

This movie looks fantasmic.
I'm hoping to see this and Grizzly Man this weekend.

...I had a hard time with that, 'cause the guy is pretty unlikable. Not just stupid, but unlikable as a human being. Made it hard to watch.

Viggo like...pulled all these fake lizards out of his cup...and had them in his pockets and stuff. I don't know..

The best though was they had a recording of Colbert talking about the character of Aragorn, and sounding like a total nerd. Jon was like "what do you do with people like that?" and Viggo said, honestly, I heard about him before and right now on the way to him is a huge platter with all of the LOTR characters carved out of chocolate.

MTV personality? 'N SYNC member?

On The Daily Show, starting his own Comedy Central show next month titled "The Colbert Report". He was on Strangers With Candy, Exit 57, wrote for the Dana Carvey show, etc.

I was joking with the n sync stuff, but I have zero idea who the guy is, even from your references. I watch no television until years later when it's on TV and then I come to the board and rant and rave about how great The Dick Van Dyke show is and ask if you all have ever seen it.

The Dick Van Dyke show is fantastic, I agree.
You should check out Strangers With Candy, it's weird but absolutely hilarious.

Worth going to see again? Or once? Or wait till video?
I still plan on seeing it but I require a second opinion.

Would I see it twice in the theater? I might. I don't think I missed anything, including subtleties in Viggo's performance, but that's a maybe. If a friend wanted someone to go with, I wouldn't hesitate.
See it in a theater, or see it twice on video if your screen's not huge. On a regular TV, I think that some of what Viggo's doing would almost disappear; there's some quiet stuff going on.
Plus, you want to see some of that makeup gore nice 'n big. :D

Stephen Colbert aka the most amazing man alive.
I did rent a Daily Show primary DVD. So far, Colbert hasn't had a whole lot to do, but it's amusing.

Hah this is funny to read now because of course everybody knows who Colbert is!!
I found this thread to update - I am finally watching this movie, tonight, and am so far pretty unimpressed.
William Hurt is fucking terrible in this. The whole thing just has something weird that isn't quite right. The whole "mommy I had a bad dream" thing introducing the family was SO overdone. I feel like a lot of it is just being beaten over my head. I do like the sex scenes though, and Viggo is good.
I am guessing I'm about halfway through but we'll see. Oh hey someone else just died. Fancy that.

WHAT THE FUCK?
That was it!? The point that I thought was maybe half-way was like 10 minutes before the end.
Fuck this movie. The kid actors were also awful.

come on! that was the best bully-comeuppance scene ever. i thought it was a pretty good movie, but the character of the wife was annoying, and the ending was a bunt.
