like someone sends a link and it's a picture. and you think it's at least somewhat innocent. but no. it's a pic of some dude spreading his asshole apart with his hands till it's large enough to fit a grape fruit in it. and his dick and balls are just dangling there. a fuckn' horific site. you close it almost as fast as you open. meanwhile the person who sends it to you is laughing his ass off. not at all traumatised by the sight. now i get these flashes of that horrid pic in my head and every time i do my ass puckers up real quick. it's really bothering me.

Based on the description, you are referring to the (in)famous image originally hosted on goatse.cx . Sending it as a blind link to people became somewhat of a popular practical joke, which spawned many imitators.

i think since i closed the picture so quick that it flashed/burned itself into my mind. if had looked at it a bit longer i wouldn't be getting these fuckn' images. and i saw tubgirl here once. that wasn't nearly as bad. and i've been really useing the net for like 2 years. i guess that is why this shit is new to me.

I think I read about that after it happened. As I remember it he posted a picture that was hosted on a server that had a protection against external linking.
Normally it would be a small image with "please don't use our site's bandwidth" or "hosted by <insert name here>" but a few sites used goatse for that so that if you post any image hosted on that site on another site it shows up as goatse.

^^^ yeah it had something to do with linking cause I saw the original picture and it was alright. Apparently their bandwidth went overboard and then it just hotlinked to that horrific pic. I've seen that happen on other forums as well.
i've had that happen to me, too. i tried to link an image from somethingawful.com, and instead it was a gigantic cock. i haven't been an image leech since (much)
