On Wednesday, October 5th, restaurants around the country will donate some, if not all, of their profits to the victims of Katrina and Rita. If you feel like being fat, lazy Americans, yet still want to feel like you're accomplishing something, here's your chance!
Me and my friends are going to Macaroni Grill, because they have kick-ass pasta and are donating 100% of profits.

Sounds like a good idear to me. Looks like I'll either be taking people to Carrabba's or Olive Garden 'cause they got the same 100% profit deal going on.
Awesome.

Vote for me for Emperor in 2008.
No, I'm just kidding. Your vote won't matter, because I'm taking power either way.

Do you think the charity will get more from the restaurants giving 100% of profits, 10% of sales, or $1 per entree?

if its an expensive restraunt, then more from profits.
its its something like a red lobster, then 10% of sales

I'd say do 100%. Like, if you get a burger for $8, I would think that's like $1.50 for beef, and $0.50 for the bun, plus another $1.00 for the toppings, plus fries (everything in bulk is reaaaally cheap). So that's a $5.00 profit for the restaurant, that would go to the cause.

apparently you didnt take economics
you have to factor in the raw labor costs it takes to make said burger and then include the overhead fees that pay for those pesky managers to spit in said burger
what a emperor you would make...asshole

I DID factor in those fees. An actual burger and fries costs less than $3, depending on where you go.

I always hear about charity events where "profits" go to charity and the charity gets nothing because Dionne Warwick took a limo etc. With Ms. Warwick, I think some charities wound up on the red.
If Olive Garden factors in a portion of their overhead and all their labor, the charity gets less I bet than at the place with $1 per person contribution.
It's still a great idea, it keeps people remembering that there are things that need to be done. And I fully support eating out under any circumstances.
