One Hundred Albums You Should Remove from Your Collection Immediately (http://www.garageradio.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=533)
And yes, the Boys are on this list.
Critically bullet-proof artifacts whose weighty presence on the shelf is complimented perfectly by their perpetual absence from the CD player.
I confess: this has happened to me. :o

Make sure to read the article before the list.

It's not the same list, but I read a similar thing before. It's always entertaining. I think some of us just get tired of having people tell us something's a classic and it gets too much publicity. I loved London Calling more than life itself but now that it's in everyone top 10 even London Calling has been pissing me off.
I don't have the Stereolab CD, and it's presence on the list among so many CDs I do have makes me wonder whether I should buy it. :)

Fugazi, Violent Femmes, Husker Du, Sonic Youth, Jane's Addiction, The Roots???!
this dude should stop trying so hard...

Sooo, he really only liked License to Ill. Meh, he's just as pretentious as the people he's making fun of.

I love Combat Rock. 'Know Your Rights', 'Atom Tan' and 'Overpowered by Funk' are wicked awesome songs.

I loved the list.
But he's fucking dreaming if he thinks I really care what he thinks.

I agree with half, and the other half is just him trying too hard like everybody else already said.

I really hate to say it, but I agree with you. :(
Yet it's still in my Top 10 anyways. Go figure.

Ok, just skimmed through the whole list. Gotta agree with everyone else. Yeah, it was most entertaining, but c'mon, this is just trying to piss off as many metalheads, punks, hip-hoppers, grungers, indie kids, etc. etc. with one fell swoop.
It was actually nice to know I already had the vast majority of those albums too. :)

I can see his point about Fugazi, but they always bring quality music. You can't front on that.

I remember posting this a couple of years ago, but my opinion remains the same, there's some truth there but also a whole lot of reaching.

What the fuck is the point in this article? A sarcastic cunt who thinks he's cooler than everyone else in the world telling them what to listen to? Bollocks!

Are you sure that list wasn't made by the editor of blender magazine? I don't care what that guy thinks and he can make fun of what ever he wants but the inclusion of "Arrested Development - 3 Years, 5 Months, & 2 Days In The Life Of" is just stupid.

i love how his commments on why for most of the albums basically said "this is the copy/remake of such and such piece/band"
so basically if its not completely original and innovative, its not worth a shit

wow i just realized he included Kool Keith's Black Elvis.

You were just dying to add that, weren't you. Slick.
Well, I own 53 of those albums. I'm not entirely proud of that, though, because I don't think there's more than maybe 40 truly good ones on the list.

I love how he uses the word "gramps" in his description of Hello Nasty when Yauch would only be, what, 34? when it was released.

Yeah.
I didn't see White Light/White Heat on there and I won't bother double-checking. If it's not there, at least the dude had some decency not to pick a great record too few people play.

Dead wrong. PB is one of the BBoys best.

Dead wrong. PB is one of the BBoys best.
Of course it is, but's wholly overblown as solely Beasties work. You might be someone who says "Oh, but the Beastie Boys helped twiddle some knobs, and they thought about which samples to tell the Dust Bros to use!".
Dust Bros are responsible for 60% of what makes that album a classic.
The lyrics are on point, to an extent. But they are all interchangeable.
Yes, just like all of their lyrics.
If the B-Boys weren't so unwilling from this point on to let somebody else do the beats, then you might have a chance at building an argument that proves me wrong. But that's a negative on both counts.

Some of you guys are taking these "reviews" WAY too seriously. Ever read The Onion (http://www.theonion.com/content/index)*? Pretty much the same thing.
* quoted from their page: "The Onion is not intended for readers under 18 years of age." So my ass is now covered!

The list made me want to listen to some of those.
A bunch of kids in 1995 loved 'Vs.', but I always hated the shit.
I'd like to actually hear it now. :D
I'm amazed Cypress Hill weren't in there. Not to hate, but if anything he dropped shit on artists that shouldn't be there. Especially compared to Bobby Brown.

Agreed. The Dust bros. are responsible for a big part of that album. But that does not discredit it as a Beaties album.

But that does not discredit it as a Beaties album.
Of course not. If they did a no-fuss album of hip-hop tracks with relatively unknown producers right now, everybody would be jockin for it.

isn't it funny that the dolt didn't put Michael Jackson "Thriller" on that list?
half of those albums I own, the other half I don't and there's a reason why
Thriller is the bomb. An album that most definitely does not belong on a list like that.

I thought the 2nd response to the list was more on point then the list itself.
Well I don't even know where to start with you on this, self Absorbed , know-it-all, be different- just to be different, WANTA BE IN THE High Fidelity movie , piece of crap article. So I'll put together a list of my own.
TEN REASONS PEOPLE PUT DOWN POPULAR MUSIC..
10)jealousy
9)want to look like a deep person, and it's hard to look cool listening to popular bands with your eye liner, army boots and nose piercing and a cure or slipknot shirt on.
8)be different, just to be different
7)You and your "underground music" geeks put down anything that sells more than 50,000 albums.
6)Your band is so good,"way better than the crap other there"
5)You seem to think the "music" YOU like is the standard by which all music is judged.
4)Attack any history making band,i.e.- Nirvana, Beatles, Beastie Boys', Grateful Dead...and so on.
3)"Your just sooooo cool not liking good bands because you're the only one smart enough to understand what good music is".
2)To get attention because daddy didn't hug you enough.
1)You have watched High Fidelity way, way, way way, too many times!!!

"reasons" 4-7 aren't even reasons. still, it's more on-point than the list itself.
