Having that post coital glow pre-coitus is what makes a honeymoon a honeymoon. And then all of the coitus.
I had a teacher named Mrs Curtis, who would always interrupt the class next to us, and I dubbed her: 'Coitus Interruptus'.
just sayin.

i had a discussion with a girl the other day, and she said it was only the wedding night. so, since i took days off at work, have i been milking it?

Yeah i knew you were getting married again, but you're married now? Congrats :) (y)
Are you going away for your honeymoon?
Anyway what I was saying before was that having been married before, you should know how long a honeymoon lasts. That is unless every marriage is different, which I assume is more accurate, and thus asking for people's opinions on here is gonna get answers that are about as relevant to your current marriage as answers you could've provided yourself. I guess the best thing you could hope for is that the honeymoon never ends :)
i'm just looking for a general answer, really.
i say a honeymoon lasts for as long as the couple says it does.
of course, i'm sure people will disagree.

I belive a honeymoon is a holiday taken by a newly married couple the day after their wedding, (that lasts as long as they want). Just a trip to themselves that binds in with the whole wedding celebrations I guess...:p

I thought you were gonna be married on Nov 6th!
Congratulations!
And you should still be on your honeymoon!
I think it's up to the couple how long they wanna be away from this mortal coil, and just be with each other and explore new worlds (both literally and metamorphicly speaking).
(and Rach, isn't it great how we bring colour to this board :D)

Ohh well, my signature is coloured.

I'd say it lasts till about the first time she doesn't have my dinner waiting on the table when I come home from the nudie bar...then I'll hafta cock back and unload the backhand.

Well, mr.peachy and I left for London right after we got married, so we used to joke that we would be on a 2-year honeymoon. That was when we expected to only be living there for 2 years. Now it's been just over 6, so we say that we are still on it.
Which is really nauseating, I know. But we're kinda disgusting like that.

It's supposed to last until the next new moon, and during that time you both drink wine with honey. That's why it's called a "honeymoon."

Our honeymoon lasted, at least to us, for about 3 months or so. But we were experiencing a lot of new things at the time, so it felt less contrived/forced. We bought a house, took a lot of time off work, went away, people kept saying congratulations etc.
Congrats by the way.

There are a lot of definitions from all over the world:
lune de miel - month of honey
mézeshetek - weeks with honey
Flitterwochen - glittering weeks
bryllupsreise - wedding trip
smek manad - caress month
hjunottsmanathr - After kidnapping his bride, a man keeps her hidden away until she's pregnant or her family stops looking for her, and then brings her back to formalize the wedding.

Oh I thought it was month, as you can see by the way I typed the word 'month' up there. I think sometimes in older translations of text, moon and month were interchangeable or later translated into one another.

CONGRADURATIONS!
I thought originally it was a honeymoon because the bride and groom were supposed to be virgins when they married, so it was a time for them to be alone and get to know each other. I suppose if you are not virgins, then it's just an excuse to be alone after the stressful time of planning and executing the wedding. Congrats to you both!
Until the cows come home.

I'm taking my honeymoon 2 months after the wedding. The older you get, the harder it is to coordinate time-off right after a wedding due to work committments, etc.
We're enjoying our "honeymoon" by having phone sex during the day (just finished, BTW... ;) ) and tons of coitus. Having kids already (both of our second marriages), it brings even more complications in.
However, it's sure fantastic when you finally meet, fall in love with, marry, and spend the rest of your life with the one you are supposed to be with and who rocks your world.
Damn, I'm a hopeless romantic, aren't I?
