To you college graduates or current college students:
What is the most hours you have taken in one semester?
I am taking 26, yes 26. I think I am going crazy, however it is exported beer night at the bar so at least i can chill for one night.
I have a Saturday class starting in 3 weeks, what fun that will be!

Most years my science degree required 31+ hours of lecture/seminar/lab time a week
shee-it, my last year I had two uppper level labs that took up entire days so on average 7-10 hours each week alone
plus for two years I worked 40-50 hours a week between two jobs
I wouldnt recommend it but yeah, cant change the past
i think my most is...let's see...15 credits at...um...50 minutes per credit...
50x15 minutes per week
i'm a political science major you see
anyway that's average around here so it's nothing to complain about. it leaves enough time to drink and play video games instead of studying

I have 14 contact hours per week, but when you include all the reading and assignments its more like 30 hours.
reading and assignments dont count

i hardly have any contact hours at all which is bad for me because it means i'm less likely to do any work. :(
oh, i'm scared shitless i'm gonna fail.

For some reason I couldnt be bothered going to uni these last three days, and I haven't handed in an essay that was due monday. I am pretty sure I'm gonna fail at least one subject.
^that post, and this:

yep, you're a college student alright (or uni, as you crazy people in the rest of the world seem to call it)

this is a good schedule. i only have one hour of recitation a week and no labs
ive had some long labs (3 or 4 hours) but nothing that lasted all day. they still pretty much sucked

i passed painting last semester, and for some reason, i just haven't done ANYTHING this semester so i've failed already.
and today in graphics we were told all the requirements needed if we wanted to pass. SHE COULD HAVE TOLD US THIS AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR.

failing classes due to lack of work isnt cool
even if you half ass your way through it, you will pass most classes

that's incredibly lame. it's like, if you get assigned a paper, but they don't tell you how long it's supposed to be, and you hand in a 10-page paper and they say "sorry, it's supposed to be 20 pages, FAIL"
were you supposed to guess or something?

i have no idea. i guess she expected us just to read her mind. now everyone is rushing around trying to make it look like they had done this stuff all along. i am really trying my darndest not to fail. i don't want a great mark, i'd be delighted if i just pass.

i wanted to do science but i didn't have the pre-tertiaries required.
basically, i want to do a course that will pretty much guarantee me a job. (there's not many) i feel like i'm stuck. it's a lot of hassle changing courses. and i'd feel like i'd wasted my time and money on the past two years.

Better that than waste your life being miserable. That could cost you your relationship, your friends, your sanity.

that's what joe's been saying to me all year. every time i would get really angry, or cry about my course he'd tell me that i should quit because it's making me miserable.
but this year is almost done (less than two weeks yay)
i'm not sure about next year

I want to change out of arts/law and into IT engineering/law. IT was my gun subject at high school, and then I went and did a course that requires a fuckload of reading when I absolutely hate reading.
But to change into even straight IT engineering I need to get like a H1 (80%) average in arts, even though I would have easily got into it before I started uni with my VCE score. Arghhh fuck, I shoulda taken a year off before uni. I mean I wouldnt have met the friends I have...but I mean this course is really draining. I can't stand when you have to do like 500 pages of research for a 1500 word essay to even get a H2B (above 70%), especially when I read at a rate of about 1 page every 3 minutes. So in other words it takes me ummmm 25 hours or something to do research for one shitty essay. And then you have 4 essays due on the same day each worth 50% of that subject. So you have 100 hours of reading to do or something rediculous, and about 50 hours planning and writing.

Right now I'm doing 18 hours in 3 days, all upper-level courses, 4 of which are in history. I wouldn't mind it as much if UMD wasn't so damn demanding.
